Samsun Tram
The Samsun Light Rail Transit System (Samsun Tramway) is a light rail transit system located in Samsun and Atakum, Turkey. The 36.5 km Samsun Tramway connects Ondokuz Mayıs University to Samsun Stadium. The system was constructed in three phases between 2010 and 2019. The tram line is the only urban rail system in the Black Sea Region pending the construction of the Trabzon Tram. The system carries 90,000 passengers daily and is one of the busiest tram systems in Turkey. History In 2008, Samsun Province governor Yusuf Ziya Yılmaz announced the construction of a light rail transit line to be completed by 2010. The project was to include 21 stations and connect Samsun's central train station operated by Turkish State Railways with the rectorate of Ondokuz Mayıs University. Samsun Metropolitan Municipality
Samsun, historically known as Sampsounta ( gr, Σαμψούντα) and Amisos (Ancient Greek: Αμισός), is a city on the north coast of Turkey and is a major Black Sea port. In 2021, Samsun recorded a population of 710,000 people. The city is the provincial capital of Samsun Province which has a population of 1,356,079. The city is home to Ondokuz Mayıs University, several hospitals, three large shopping malls, Samsunspor football club, an opera and a large and modern manufacturing district. Piazza Samsun is a shopping mall located on Çarşamba Caddesi in Samsun, Turkey. It serves the Samsun area and is also the Central Black Sea's premier shopping Center and Largest Mall with 160 stores. Piazza Samsun was completed in 2013 by the Rönesans Development Group. The mall contains a 164 room Anemon Hotel on the south end of the structure. The mall contains 160 stores and the anchor stores are Media Markt, Migros (Turkey) and Cinemaximum. The mall was designed by Tabanlıoğlu Architects. History Piazza Samsun is the first large retail development by Rönesans Development Group. Construction started in October 2011 and took 16 months to complete. Pelitköy (Samsun Tramvayı)
Pelitköy is a large village in west Turkey. It is located in Burhaniye, Balıkesir Province and is 2 km from Çanakkale-İzmir Way (E87). It is known for its beach, and its olives and olive products. ''Pelit'' means ''oak fruit'' in Turkish; its name translates as "oak fruit village". Geography Pelitköy is located on a cape, known as Bağlar Cape or Kum (Sand) Cape and is a summer resort. The climate is warm, with some seasonal snow and (rarely) rain. Winds can be strong, especially the north wind. A natural spring in İçmeler, Pelitköy, is believed to remedy stomach illnesses, but it is not currently in use. History Harmankayası cave and Pekmezkaya hill are ancient cult places in Pelitköy.
