The Shenzhen Metro () is the rapid transit system for the city of Shenzhen in Guangdong province, China. Extensions opened on 28 November 2022 put the network at of trackage, operating on 15 lines with 345 stations. Shenzhen Metro is the 6th longest metro system in China and 6th longest in the world as of that date despite having only opened on 28 December 2004. By 2035 the network is planned to comprise 8 express and 24 non-express lines totaling of trackage. Current system Currently the network has of route, operating on 15 lines with 345 stations. Line 1 and Line 4 run to the border crossings between the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region at Luohu/Lo Wu and Futian Checkpoint/Lok Ma Chau, where riders can transfer to Hong Kong's MTR East Rail line for travel onwards to Hong Kong. Luohu District
Luohu District is a district of Shenzhen, China, located north of the New Territories of Hong Kong, east of Futian District, southeast of Longgang District, Shenzhen, Longgang District, southwest of Pingshan District, Shenzhen, Pingshan District, and west of Yantian District. It is one of the oldest parts of the city, having represented Shenzhen as a fishing village before 1953 and Shenzhen (market town), a market town from 1953 to 1979, when Bao'an County was promoted to a prefecture-level city and renamed Shenzhen. Futian District
Futian District () is one of the nine districts comprising the city of Shenzhen, China. The district is home to the government and Municipal Committee of Shenzhen, as well as the city's central business district (CBD). Name There are two theories concerning the origin of the district's name: * From an inscription dating to the Song Dynasty (960–1297) which reads: "Lakes and mountains are blessed with fertile farmlands" (). * Written records showing that people from Shangsha Village built houses in Songziling in 1192; their farmlands were cultivated in lattice shapes, which in Chinese is a homophone for "Futian" meaning "blessed fields". History Luohu District was established in April 1979, one month after Shenzhen was promoted to city status. Futian, and another area called Fucheng (), became communes within the Luohu District. Houhai station (), formerly Nanshan Shopping Center station (), is a station of Shenzhen Metro The Shenzhen Metro () is the rapid transit system for the city of Shenzhen in Guangdong province, China. Yantian District
Yantian District () is one of the nine districts of the city of Shenzhen, Guangdong, China. It is adjacent to Shenzhen River and Hong Kong to the south, and is surrounded by Luohu, Longgang and Pingshan districts of Shenzhen. Before 1960s, the northern part of the district belonged to Huiyang County (now Huiyang District, Huizhou). The famous Huizhou Uprising launched by Dr. Sun Yat-sen started in the northern part of the district during 1900. The failure of the revolution had inspired Dr. Sun to revolt against the Qing dynasty, which soon ended in 1912 after the Wuchang Uprising. Due to the proximity to Bao'an County, Northern Yantian merged into the new County in 1960s. In 1978, after the establishment of Shenzhen Special Economic Zone(SEZ), Yantian (as a part of Luohu District), together with several other districts in Bao'an County, formed the new special economic district. Nanshan District ( ; Cantonese Jyutping: Naam4 Saan1 Keoi1) is one of the nine districts comprising Shenzhen.
