Shelley Scown
Shelley Scown is an Australian singer, musician and educator who has contributed widely to the Australian and Indigenous music industry. Biography Scown is probably best known for her 1997 Jazz album, ''Angel'' with Paul Grabowsky Trio. She collaborated with other respected Australian musicians, such as Paul Grabowsky, Bernie McGann, The Groovematics and Kate Ceberano. The album was nominated for an ARIA music award in 1998, but lost to ''The Future of Today'' by Chaplin, Tinkler, Rex, & Lamble. As well as working on stage, Scown has also worked in film. Her credits include: ''Turn It Up'' (1991) (an unscreened television series pilot co-starring Marg Downey, Lisa McCune and Glenn Robbins; she appeared as a character called Carsonette), ''Lucky Break'' (1994) (with Gia Carides and Anthony LaPaglia; she played a lounge singer at a resort) and as a member of the music department where she was a lead vocalist in ''Noah's Ark'' (1999). Paul Grabowsky Trio
Paul Grabowsky Trio were an Australian jazz ensemble founded in 1983 by Paul Grabowsky on piano. By 1989 he was joined by Allan Browne on drums and Gary Costello on double bass. They won Best Jazz Album for '' Six by Three'' (1989) at the ARIA Music Awards of 1990 and for '' When Words Fail'' (1995) in 1996. The trio disbanded in 2001. Gary Costello died in December 2006, aged 54; Browne died in June 2015, aged 70. History Paul Grabowsky on piano formed his eponymous trio in 1983 in Melbourne. By 1986 Grabowsky was in Germany and was joined by Joachim "Rocky" Knauer on double bass and Sunk Pöschl on drums. They released their debut album, ''Contact Sport Midnight Waltz'', in that year. It was co-produced by Grabowsky and Pöschl. In 1989 a new trio with Allan Browne on drums (ex-the Red Onion Jazz Band) and Gary Costello on double bass, issued the second album, '' Six by Three''. Anthony LaPaglia (, ; born 31 January 1959) is an Australian actor. He is best known for his role as Jack Malone in the television drama ''Without a Trace'' (2002–2009), for which he received a Golden Globe Award in 2004. Mo Awards
The Australian Entertainment Mo Awards (commonly known informally as the Mo Awards) were an annual Australian entertainment industry award, that where established in 1975, to recognise achievements in live entertainment in Australia. They were last awarded in 2016. Lucky Grills, actor and comedian came up with the idea to create an awards show to celebrate Australian Variety, during a meeting in 1975. The Mo Awards, initially were founded as the Star Awards and were a state honour in New South Wales only, local entertainers started the awards to promote the live entertainment industry in New South Wales. Johnny O'Keefe became chairman in 1976, and decided the awards should become an Australia-wide national awards program. The 12th Australian Recording Industry Association Music Awards (generally known as the ARIA Music Awards or simply The ARIAS) was held on 20 October 1998 at the Sydney Convention & Exhibition Centre. Presenters, including Democrats deputy leader Natasha Stott Despoja and former Prime Minister Gough Whitlam, distributed 29 awards with the big winner Natalie Imbruglia receiving six trophies. ''Noah's Ark'' is a 1999 American-Australian television miniseries directed by John Irvin and starring Jon Voight, Mary Steenburgen, F. Murray Abraham, Carol Kane, Jonathan Cake, Alexis Denisof, Emily Mortimer, Sydney Tamiia Poitier, and James Coburn. The film tells the Biblical story of Noah's Ark from the Book of Genesis. Paul Grabowsky
Paul Atherstone Grabowsky (born 27 September 1958) is an Australian pianist and composer. Biography Born in Lae, Papua New Guinea, Grabowsky is a pianist and composer of music for film, theatre and opera. His father Alistair had lived in Papua New Guinea with his wife Charlotte since the 1930s working on oil rigs, building roads, flying planes. Grabowsky described his ancestry as "failed Polish aristocracy". His grandfather was a legitimate Polish Count of the Grabowksi noble family, a descendant of Jan Jerzy Grabowski from where he gets his title; his grandfather was exiled from Poland and lived in Scotland. His older brother Michael took great interest in the young composer and later worked with Paul co-ordinating and producing many of his television and film scores in the 1990s.
