John Hayes (director)
John Patrick Hayes (March 1, 1930 – August 21, 2000) was an American film director, producer, screenwriter, and actor. He began his career as a screenwriter, writing 1959's ''The Kiss'', which earned an Academy Award nomination for Best Short Film. Hayes is best known for directing low-budget B-movie features and later, exploitation films. Biography Hayes was born March 1, 1930, in New York City to first-generation Irish American parents. His parents divorced when he was four years old, after which he was raised by his grandmother and uncle. He had a sister, Dolores, who was raised separately from him in a Catholic convent, and subsequently developed schizophrenia as an adult. After spending two years in the United States Navy, Hayes returned to New York City and began studying acting with Erwin Piscator. Beach Dickerson
Beach Dickerson ( – 2005) was an American actor known for such films as '' The Trip'' and ''Crazy Mama''. Early life Dickerson was born in Glennville, Georgia. Career Dickerson worked frequently with director Roger Corman. His first appearance was in ''Attack of the Crab Monsters''. He also appeared in the films '' Sorority Girl'', ''Rock All Night'', ''Cocaine and Blue Eyes'', '' Teenage Caveman'' and the 1991 film ''Future Kick''. Death He died in Los Angeles, California, on December 7, 2005, at age 81. Dickerson willed three houses to his friend, author Scotty Bowers. The spreading of Dickerson's ashes by Bowers was shown in the 2017 documentary film ''Scotty and the Secret History of Hollywood''. Jaime Mendoza-Nava
Jaime Mendoza-Nava (December 1, 1925 – May 31, 2005) was a Bolivian-American composer and conductor. Early life and work Mendoza-Nava was born in La Paz, Bolivia. He studied at The Juilliard School and Madrid Royal Conservatory, the Sorbonne, and with Nadia Boulanger. He won the Madrid Conservatory's First Prize in 1950, completing the five-year program in a year's time. Eventually, he was on the staff of Walt Disney Studios and his works were recorded by MGM Records. Much of his music is inspired by the pentatonic music of the Andes. In Hollywood, he also had several credits as a sound editor. He died in Los Angeles, California, on May 31, 2005. B-movie
A B movie or B film is a low-budget commercial motion picture. In its original usage, during the Golden Age of Hollywood, the term more precisely identified films intended for distribution as the less-publicized bottom half of a double feature (akin to B-sides for recorded music). However, the U.S. production of films intended as second features largely ceased by the end of the 1950s. With the emergence of commercial television at that time, film studio B movie production departments changed into television film production divisions. They created much of the same type of content in low budget films and series. The term ''B movie'' continues to be used in its broader sense to this day.
