Shelkovskoy District (russian: Шелковско́й райо́н; ce, Шелковскан кӀошт, ''Şelkovskan khoşt'') is an administrativeDecree #500 and municipalLaw #42-RZ district ( raion), one of the fifteen in the Chechen Republic, Russia. It is located in the northeast of the republic. The area of the district is . Its administrative center is the rural locality (a '' stanitsa'') of Shelkovskaya. Raion
A raion (also spelt rayon) is a type of administrative unit of several post-Soviet states. The term is used for both a type of subnational entity and a division of a city. The word is from the French (meaning 'honeycomb, department'), and is commonly translated as "district" in English.
