Sheikhupura Cricket Team
Sheikhupura cricket team, from the city of Sheikhupura in Sheikhupura District in the north-east of Punjab province in Pakistan, played first-class cricket in the Quaid-i-Azam Trophy for three seasons from 2000-01 to 2002-03. Playing record In 2000-01 Sheikhupura won only one of their eleven matches and were due to be relegated to non-first-class status for 2001-02, but an expansion in the number of teams in the Quaid-i-Azam Trophy allowed their retention. In 2001-02 they won five of their eight matches and finished second in their group. However, several of their leading players left after the season, and in 2002-03 Sheikhupura won none of their five matches. Overall Sheikhupura played 24 first-class matches, with six wins, nine losses and nine draws. Sheikhupura ( pa, ; ur, ) also known as Qila Sheikhupura, is a city in the Pakistani province of Punjab, Pakistan, Punjab. Founded by the Mughal Empire, Mughal Emperor Jahangir, Jehangir in 1607, Sheikhupura is the List of most populous cities in Pakistan, 16th largest city of Pakistan by population and is the headquarters of Sheikhupura District. The city is an industrial center, and satellite town, located about 38 km northwest of Lahore. It is also connected to District Kasur. The old name of Sheikhupura was “Virkgarh” due to large number of Virk jatts, Jats settled in the area. The Virks are still strong in this area both politically and economically. Bahawalpur cricket team was a first-class cricket side in Pakistan, representing the city of Bahawalpur. It won the inaugural season of the Quaid-i-Azam Trophy in 1953–54, under the captaincy of Khan Mohammad. Bahawalpur competed in Pakistan's first-class competitions in most seasons between 1953–54 and 2002–03. After nine seasons in the sub-first-class Inter-District Tournament, Bahawalpur returned to first-class status in the 2012–13 season. At the end of the 2013–14 season Bahawalpur had played 219 first-class matches, with 55 wins, 83 losses, 79 draws and 2 ties. Imran Nazir ( pa, ) (born 16 December 1981) is a Pakistani former cricketer who played for the Pakistan national cricket team between 1999 and 2012 primarily a hard hitting opening batsman. Domestic career In 2008, Nazir signed for the Indian Cricket League and played for the Lahore Badshahs. He scored 111 runs not out, off just 44 deliveries, against the Hyderabad Heroes in the third of the best of three finals of the tournament and helped his team achieve victory. After signing up for the Indian Cricket League, his chances of ever playing again for Pakistan looked slim. Aaqib Javed (Urdu: ; born 5 August 1972) is a Pakistani cricket coach and former cricketer. He was a right-handed fast-medium pace bowler with the ability to swing the ball both ways. Muhammad Haroon (born 8 January 1968) is a former Pakistani cricketer who is the current coach of the Norwegian national side.
