Mohammad Haroon (cricketer)
Muhammad Haroon (born 8 January 1968) is a former Pakistani cricketer who is the current coach of the Norwegian national side. A right-handed leg spinner and competent middle-to-lower-order batsman, his playing career included first-class matches for Lahore Division (from 1999 to 2000) and for Sheikhupura (from 2000 to 2002). Holding a level-4 ECB coaching qualification, Haroon was appointed coach of Norway in early 2014, and has since coached the team at several international tournaments. Sheikhupura
Sheikhupura ( pa, ; ur, ) also known as Qila Sheikhupura, is a city in the Pakistani province of Punjab, Pakistan, Punjab. Founded by the Mughal Empire, Mughal Emperor Jahangir, Jehangir in 1607, Sheikhupura is the List of most populous cities in Pakistan, 16th largest city of Pakistan by population and is the headquarters of Sheikhupura District. The city is an industrial center, and satellite town, located about 38 km northwest of Lahore. It is also connected to District Kasur. The old name of Sheikhupura was “Virkgarh” due to large number of Virk jatts, Jats settled in the area. The Virks are still strong in this area both politically and economically. Batting Average (cricket)
In cricket, a player's batting average is the total number of runs they have scored divided by the number of times they have been out, usually given to two decimal places. Since the number of runs a player scores and how often they get out are primarily measures of their own playing ability, and largely independent of their teammates, batting average is a good metric for an individual player's skill as a batter (although the practice of drawing comparisons between players on this basis is not without criticism). The number is also simple to interpret intuitively. If all the batter's innings were completed (i.e. they were out every innings), this is the average number of runs they score per innings. If they did not complete all their innings (i.e. some innings they finished not out), this number is an estimate of the unknown average number of runs they score per innings. 2015 ICC Europe Division One
The 2015 ICC Europe Division One was a cricket tournament held in Jersey from 9–13 May 2015. The tournament was organised by ICC Europe, and featured the top six associate members in that region – Denmark, France, Guernsey, Italy, Jersey, and Norway. Ireland, the Netherlands, and Scotland had already qualified for the World Twenty20 Qualifier, while England qualify for the World Twenty20 automatically. The host, Jersey, won the tournament on net run rate from Denmark, its first title. The leading runscorer at the tournament was Danish batsman Freddie Klokker, while the leading wicket taker was Italian bowler Carl Sandri. By winning the tournament, Jersey qualified for the 2015 World Twenty20 Qualifier in Ireland and Scotland. ICC European T20 Championship
The European Cricket Championship was a group of various tournaments in which national cricket sides throughout Europe competed. The competition was designed to encourage and develop the best players in countries where cricket was not a major sport and Europe's only Test cricket playing country at the time, England did not enter a full-strength side. The games were often played as 50-over one-day cricket matches, most of these without One Day International status, but more recently has been played in a Twenty20 format (see below for more details). Nassington
Nassington is a village and civil parish in Northamptonshire, England. At the time of the 2001 census, the parish's population was 670 people, increasing to 827 at the 2011 Census The River Nene runs along the eastern side of the parish. The villages name means 'Promontory place farm/settlement'. The village has existed since at least Anglo-Saxon times, for an Anglo-Saxon hall was taken over by the Viking king, Cnut the Great, as one of his royal halls. Cnut is known to have visited after 1017, with his court including Aethelric the bishop of Dorchester on Thames. In 1107 Henry I gave the hall and land to the Bishop of Lincoln, Robert Bloet, to endow a prebend. 2006 English Cricket Season
The 2006 English cricket season was the 107th in which the County Championship had been an official competition. It included home international series for England against Sri Lanka and Pakistan. England came off a winter with more Test losses than wins, for the first time since 2002-03, but still attained their best series result in India since 1985. The One Day International series against Pakistan and India both ended in losses. Market Deeping
Market Deeping is a market town and civil parish in the South Kesteven district of Lincolnshire, England, on the north bank of the River Welland and the A15 road. The population of the town at the 2011 census was 6,008. History The town's market has been held since at least 1220. The £10 million A15 and A16 bypass opened in July 1998, which incorporates a stretch of single and dual carriageway. The A16 has now moved to the former A1073 from Crowland to Spalding, and the bypass became the A1175 in October 2011. 2001 English Cricket Season
The 2001 English cricket season was the 102nd in which the County Championship had been an official competition. Yorkshire won the County Championship for the first time since 1968. In limited overs cricket, a change of sponsor meant that the NatWest Trophy became the C&G Trophy. The Second XI Trophy was inaugurated as a limited overs knockout competition. Australia again won the Ashes, this time largely due to some fine performances by Adam Gilchrist. It was the 70th test series between the two sides with Australia winning 4-1. Rawalpindi was a first-class cricket side that competed in domestic competitions in Pakistan. Rawalpindi's List A and Twenty20 sides were known as the Rawalpindi Rams. Gujranwala Cricket Team
Gujranwala cricket team, from the city of Gujranwala in Gujranwala District in the east of Punjab province, played in Pakistan's domestic first-class cricket competitions from 1983-84 to 1986-87, and from 1997-98 to 2002-03. 1980s For the 1983-84 season the Pakistan Cricket Board expanded the BCCP Patron's Trophy, and Gujranwala were one of several new teams to play at first-class level. Over the next four seasons they played 13 matches, winning two, losing six and drawing five. Both their victories were against Lahore Division, in 1984-85 and 1985-86. The National One Day Cup was the national domestic List A (one-day) cricket competition in Pakistan. Due to frequent reorganisations by the Pakistan Cricket Board, at different times there have been one or more competitions involving teams representing either regional associations or departments (or a mix of the two), during the same season, resulting in multiple domestic one-day champions in those seasons.
