Sheikh Abdul Awal
Sheikh Abdul Awal is a judge of the High Court Division of the Bangladesh Supreme Court. Early life Awal was born on 4 June 1960 to Sheikh Yousuff Ali and Saleha Begum. He completed a M.A., M.S.S., and law degree. Career Awal became a lawyer of the District Courts on 30 October 1986. On 26 February 1989, Awal became a lawyer of the High Court Division of Bangladesh Supreme Court. Awal was appointed to the High Court Division as an additional judge on 23 August 2004. On 23 August 2006, Awal became a permanent judge of the High Court Division. On 26 August 2008, Awal and Justice Tariq ul Hakim granted bail to Tarique Rahman, son of former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia, on an extortion case. The High Court Division, Supreme Court of Bangladesh ( bn, হাইকোর্ট ডিভিশন) popularly known as the 'High Court' is one of the two divisions of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh, the other division being the Appellate Division. It consists of the Chief Justice of Bangladesh and the Judges of the High Court Division. The High Court Division exercises both original jurisdiction and appellate jurisdiction in civil and criminal matters. August 21 Grenade Attack Case
The 2004 Dhaka grenade attack took place at an anti-terrorism rally organised by Awami League on Bangabandhu Avenue on 21 August 2004. The attack left 24 dead and more than 500 injured. The attack was carried out at 5:22 pm after Sheikh Hasina, the leader of opposition had finished addressing a crowd of 20,000 people from the back of a truck. The attacks targeted Awami League president Sheikh Hasina. Hasina was injured in the attack. Events and casualties Awami League chief Sheikh Hasina had been speaking at a public meeting on Bangabandhu Avenue, protesting blasts against the party's workers in Sylhet. The rally drew a crowd of 20,000 people. Shahudul Haque is a former Inspector General of Police of Bangladesh Police during 2003–2004. Earlier, he was an Army officer who later join Bangladesh Police. Ashraful Huda is a former Bangladesh police officer who served as the Inspector General of Police of Bangladesh Police during 2004–2005. Shahidul Alam
Shahidul Alam (born 1955) is a Bangladeshi photojournalist, teacher and social activist. He has been a photographer for more than forty years and "his photographs have been published in almost every major western media outlet". Alam founded the Drik Picture Library in 1989, the Pathshala South Asian Media Institute in Dhaka in 1998, "which has trained hundreds of photographers", and the Chobi Mela International Photography Festival in 1999.
