Ashraful Huda
Ashraful Huda is a former Bangladesh police officer who served as the Inspector General of Police of Bangladesh Police during 2004–2005. Career Huda served as the principal of Bangladesh Police Academy from 1996 to 1997. Huda took charge the Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) on 8 April 2003 after his retirement as deputy inspector general of police. Shahudul Haque is a former Inspector General of Police of Bangladesh Police during 2003–2004. Earlier, he was an Army officer who later join Bangladesh Police. Career Dismissal In August 2003, AHM Shamsuddin Chowdhury Manik, an additional judge of the High Court, issued a notice of query on the then IGP Haque while drawing contempt proceedings against five police personnel. According to Manik, a traffic policeman on duty did not salute, while his car passed in the Farmgate area in Dhaka earlier in June the same year. Haque, in his clarification letter, mentioned that "a traffic policeman on duty is not obliged to salute anybody but a discretion is left to him to pay compliment to anybody without risking traffic accident. Mohammad Hadis Uddin
Mohammad Hadis Uddin (6 February 1949 – 7 August 2021) was a Bangladeshi police officer who served as the 23rd Inspector General of Police of Bangladesh Police in 2005. He was then transferred to the establishment ministry. Career Uddin was an officer of the police cadre service of 1973 batch. He served as deputy commander in the UN Mission in Cambodia in 1993 and minister in the Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi from 1998 to 2003. Uddin was the additional IGP (finance and development) at the police headquarters before being appointed the 23rd Inspector General of Police of Bangladesh Police. Bangladesh Police Academy (BPA) is a 100-year-old police training institute. It is the Alma Mater of police training in Bangladesh. It is located 20 miles from Rajshahi City. Evolution The necessity for imparting formal training to policemen was first felt in Bengal in 1893 when an experimental course of instruction limited to a period of 12 months was tried at Mill Barrack in Dhaka. The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) is the unit of Bangladesh Police responsible for law enforcement in the metropolis of Dhaka, the national capital and most populous city in Bangladesh. 2004 Dhaka Grenade Attack
The 2004 Dhaka grenade attack took place at an anti-terrorism rally organised by Awami League on Bangabandhu Avenue on 21 August 2004. The attack left 24 dead and more than 500 injured. The attack was carried out at 5:22 pm after Sheikh Hasina, the leader of opposition had finished addressing a crowd of 20,000 people from the back of a truck. The attacks targeted Awami League president Sheikh Hasina. Hasina was injured in the attack. Events and casualties Awami League chief Sheikh Hasina had been speaking at a public meeting on Bangabandhu Avenue, protesting blasts against the party's workers in Sylhet. The rally drew a crowd of 20,000 people. The Gunahar Zamindar Bari () was a zamindari estate based in the Bogra District of Bangladesh. The residential palace, popularly known as Saheb Bari ( bn, সাহেব বাড়ী), was the erstwhile Zamindars of Gunahar in Dhupchanchia. The present building was constructed in 1941, and remains a tourist attraction.
