Shawn Sawyers
Shawn Sawyers (born 19 September 1976, in Jamaica) is a Jamaican professional football player who plays as a goalkeeper, in 2010 he transferred from Portmore United to Humble Lions F.C. in the Jamaica National Premier League. International career Sawyers made his debut for Jamaica in a May 2002 friendly match against Nigeria, coming on as a substitute for Aaron Lawrence. He has served as the long-time number two keeper for Jamaica. He has collected 29 caps since, his last international match being the February 2009 in a friendly match in London versus Nigeria. Jamaica
Jamaica (; ) is an island country situated in the Caribbean Sea. Spanning in area, it is the third-largest island of the Greater Antilles and the Caribbean (after Cuba and Hispaniola). Caribbean Cup
The Caribbean Cup was the championship tournament for national association football teams that are members of the Caribbean Football Union. The first competition, established by Shell and run by former England Cricket fast bowler Fred Rumsey, was contested in 1989 in Barbados. The Caribbean Cup served as a qualification tournament among CFU members for the CONCACAF Gold Cup. The Caribbean Cup replaced the CFU Championship competition which was active between 1978 and 1988. Trinidad and Tobago, eight-time winners, and Jamaica, six-time winners, were the most successful sides, winning a combined 14 of 18 titles. Martinique, Haiti, Cuba and Curaçao also won the tournament. In 1990 on the day of the final, an insurrection in Trinidad and Tobago, the host nation, by the Jamaat al Muslimeen forced an abandonment of the tournament with only the final and 3rd place play-off game remaining. The Caribbean Club Championship, also known as the CFU Club Championship or CFU Club Champions' Cup, was an annual international football competition held amongst association football clubs that are members of the Caribbean Football Union (CFU). The Caribbean Club Championship served as a qualifying event for the CONCACAF Champions League tournament. The tournament was officially the Flow CONCACAF Caribbean Club Championship for sponsorship reasons from 2018 to 2022. With the expansion of the CONCACAF Champions League starting from the 2024 edition, the 2022 edition of the Caribbean Club Championship was the last held. Aaron Lawrence (born 11 August 1970) is a Jamaican former professional footballer who played as a goalkeeper, making over 60 appearances for the Jamaica national team. In some sources, his birth date is 10 October 1968.
