Shawn Graham
Shawn Michael Graham (born February 22, 1968) is a Canadian politician, who served as the 31st premier of New Brunswick from 2006 to 2010. He was elected leader of the New Brunswick Liberal Party in 2002 and became premier after his party captured a majority of seats in the 2006 election. After being elected, Graham initiated a number of changes to provincial policy especially in the areas of health care, education and energy. His party was defeated in the New Brunswick provincial election held September 27, 2010, and Graham resigned as Liberal leader on November 9, 2010. Early career Graham was born in Rexton, New Brunswick, Canada and raised in a political family, with his father Alan R. Graham being the longest serving member of the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick. Greg Byrne
Greg Byrne, K.C. (born April 14, 1960, in Harvey, New Brunswick) is a lawyer and former MLA in the province of New Brunswick, Canada. Byrne was educated at Fredericton High School, Saint Thomas University (where he received a Bachelor of Arts in 1984) and the University of New Brunswick (where he received a Bachelor of Laws in 1987). A Liberal, he was elected to the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick in the 1995 provincial election. He joined the cabinet of Frank McKenna in 1997 as Minister responsible for Mines and Energy. He resigned from cabinet in 1998 in order to run in the leadership convention to replace McKenna who had resigned later in 1997. Byrne finished second to Camille Thériault at the convention. Harrison House (Fredericton)
Harrison House is a university residence at the University of New Brunswick, Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada. It was built in 1962 as part of the largest building program at UNB which included several other residences and faculty buildings. When it was built, it was operated as an all-male residence, but from September 1991 to present, it has been a co-ed residence on the UNB Fredericton campus. The Progressive Conservative Party of New Brunswick is a centre-right, conservative political party in the Canadian province of New Brunswick. The party has its origins in the pre-Canadian confederation Conservative Party that opposed the granting of ''responsible government'' to the colony. Jack MacDougall
Jack MacDougall (born 1953) is a former politician in New Brunswick, Canada. He was owner-operator of a taxi business in Saint John, New Brunswick which he sold prior to 1982. In 1982, he led a 1-year, $1 million fundraising campaign to save the Imperial Theatre. He worked for the Liberal Party of New Brunswick from 1984 to 1999. In 2002, he was an unsuccessful candidate for leader of the party. In August 2008, he was hired by the Green Party of Canada as Maritimes Organizer. On September 24, 2009, MacDougall was acclaimed the leader of the Green Party of New Brunswick. In the 2010 general election, the Green Party polled 4.5 per cent of the vote and elected no members. In his own riding of Fredericton-Nashwaaksis, MacDougall finished third with 9.4 per cent of the vote. He resigned as leader on September 12, 2011. Bernard Richard (born April 11, 1951) is a Canadian social worker, lawyer, and politician in the Province of New Brunswick. Early life and education Raised and educated in Cap-Pelé, New Brunswick, Richard earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Moncton and a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of New Brunswick. Paul Duffie
Paul Duffie (born June 14, 1951) is a Canadian former politician, lawyer and judge in the province of New Brunswick. Duffie was born in Neguac, New Brunswick. A graduate of Ricker College in Houlton, Maine with a Bachelor of Science degree and the University of New Brunswick in Fredericton, New Brunswick with a law degree. He was mayor of Grand Falls from 1986 until his election as MLA in 1987. Elected as a Liberal in the Frank McKenna landslide, Duffie continued his law practice in addition to his legislative duties. In 1991, he was named to the board of governors for the University of New Brunswick. In 1991, Duffie was re-elected as MLA and appointed to be the Minister of Education. The 1999 New Brunswick general election was held on June 7, 1999, to elect 55 members to the 54th New Brunswick Legislative Assembly, the governing house of the province of New Brunswick, Canada. Campaign The election marked the debut of both Camille Thériault and Bernard Lord as leaders of the Liberals and Progressive Conservatives respectively. It was Elizabeth Weir's third general election as leader of the New Democratic Party.
