Sharpesburg Township is a non-functioning administrative division of Iredell County, North Carolina, United States. Tom Dula
Thomas C. Dula (June 23‚ 1844 – May 1, 1868) was a former Confederate soldier who was convicted of murdering Laura Foster. National publicity from newspapers such as ''The New York Times'' turned Dula's story into a folk legend. Although Laura was murdered in Wilkes County, North Carolina, Dula was tried, convicted, and hanged in Statesville. Considerable controversy surrounded the case. Snow Creek Methodist Church And Burying Ground
Snow Creek Methodist Church and Burying Ground is a historic Methodist church building and cemetery located about 10 miles north of Statesville, Iredell County, North Carolina. The church was established in 1801. The existing church building was built in 1884–1885, and is a one-story, one bay by four bay, rectangular frame church in the late Greek Revival style. It has a steep gable roof and vestibule added in the mid-20th century. Also on the property is the contributing church cemetery, which dates from 1780. It was constructed in 1855, and is an open rectangular structure measuring 35 feet by 55 feet. The Damascus Baptist Church Arbor continues to be used for brush arbor revivals. William Sharpe (North Carolina Politician)
William Sharpe (December 13, 1742 – July 1, 1818) was a lawyer, politician, American Revolution patriot, and a delegate to the Continental Congress from Rowan County, North Carolina, which became Iredell County in 1788. Early life Sharpe was born in Rock Church, Cecil County, Maryland, in 1742. He was the son of Thomas Sharp, Jr, and his wife, Elizabeth, of Maryland. He pursued classical studies and law. He was admitted to the bar and commenced practice in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina in 1763. He married Catherine Reese in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina on May 31, 1768. He moved to Rowan County, North Carolina in late 1768 or 1769. Yadkin River
The Yadkin River is one of the longest rivers in North Carolina, flowing . It rises in the northwestern portion of the state near the Blue Ridge Parkway's Thunder Hill Overlook.
