Shark Island (band)
Shark Island is an American glam metal band from Los Angeles, California, United States, that formed in 1986. and reformed in 2017 and is currently touring clubs and hair metal festivals in Europe. The band are mainly known for their "cult hit" album, ''Law of the Order''. History 1979–1982: Sharks Sharks started in 1979 by vocalist Rick Czerny and lead guitarist, Spencer Sercombe. Czerny and Sercombe met in high school playing together and began writing original material. Spencer eventually began working for B.C. Rich guitars. While working at B.C. Rich, Spencer had a hand in the designing of one their most popular guitars, The Warlock. The band practiced out of a small home in a commercial area in Arcadia on Santa Clara Street. Judas Priest are an English heavy metal band formed in Birmingham in 1969. They have sold over 50 million albums and are frequently ranked as one of the greatest metal bands of all time. Despite an innovative and pioneering body of work in the latter half of the 1970s, the band had struggled with indifferent record production and a lack of major commercial success until 1980, when they rose to commercial success with the album '' British Steel''. Sparks is an American pop and rock duo formed by brothers Ron (keyboards) and Russell Mael (vocals) in Los Angeles. The duo is noted for their quirky approach to songwriting; their music is often accompanied by sophisticated and acerbic lyrics—often about women, and sometimes containing literary or cinematic references-- and an idiosyncratic, theatrical stage presence, typified by the contrast between Russell's animated, hyperactive frontman antics and Ron's deadpan scowling. The Scream (band)
The Scream was an American hard rock band based in Los Angeles, originally formed in 1989 as Saints or Sinners. The band originally featured former Angora singer John Corabi and former Racer X members guitarist Bruce Bouillet, bassist Juan Alderete, and drummer Scott Travis. However, Scott Travis quickly left to join Judas Priest, and was replaced by former Shark Island drummer Walt Woodward III. Scott Travis co-wrote "I Don't Care" on '' Let It Scream'', though he did not actually play on the album. They changed their name from Saints or Sinners to The Scream shortly after Walt Woodward III replaced Scott Travis. Rick Derringer
Rick Derringer (born Richard Dean Zehringer; August 5, 1947) is an American guitarist, vocalist, producer and songwriter. He came to prominence in the 1960s as founding member of his band, the McCoys. Their debut single, "Hang on Sloopy", was a number-one hit in 1965 and became a classic of the garage rock era. The McCoys then had seven songs that charted in the top 100, including versions of "Fever" and "Come on Let’s Go". In 1974, Derringer reached the US top 30 with his own song, "Rock and Roll, Hoochie Koo". He also worked extensively with the brothers Edgar and Johnny Winter, playing lead and backing guitar in their bands and producing all of their gold and platinum recordings, including Edgar Winter's hits "Frankenstein" and " Free Ride" (both 1973). Walt Woodward III
Walt Woodward III (February 10, 1959 – June 8, 2010) was an American rock drummer who played in several bands, including Shark Island and Saints Or Sinners/The Scream. He replaced original Saints Or Sinners/The Scream drummer Scott Travis, who left the band to replace drummer Dave Holland in Judas Priest, in 1989. Walt started his career in the New York/New Jersey area, playing in Rachel, featuring Riot vocalist Rhett Forrester, and Americade, as well as several other bands. His move to California enabled him to be a part of Sweet Savage, Shark Island and The Scream. Walt also did a worldwide tour with surf guitar legend Dick Dale. Gazzarri's was a nightclub on the Sunset Strip in West Hollywood, California, United States. The Doors and Van Halen were featured house bands there before being signed to major record labels. It was the backdrop for Huey Lewis and the News' short form promotional music video for their 1984 hit The Heart of Rock and Roll. The Troubadour (Los Angeles)
The Troubadour is a nightclub located in West Hollywood, California, United States, at 9081 Santa Monica Boulevard just east of Doheny Drive and the border of Beverly Hills. The Roxy Theatre (often just the Roxy) is a nightclub on the Sunset Strip in West Hollywood, California, owned by Lou Adler and his son, Nic. History The Roxy was opened on September 23, 1973, by Elmer Valentine and Lou Adler, along with original partners David Geffen, Elliot Roberts and Peter Asher.
