Sharad Kumar Dicksheet
Sharad Kumar Dixit was an Indian born American plastic surgeon and the founder of The India Project, a social initiative for free treatment of plastic surgery for the financially compromised people. A multiple nominee for Nobel Peace prize, he was honored by the Government of India, in 2001, with the fourth highest Indian civilian award of Padma Shri. Biography Sharad Kumar Dixit was born in Pandharpur, Solapur district, in the Western Indian state of Maharashtra on 13 December 1930, as one among the six children of a post master. His initial choice was to study science for which he enrolled at Nizam College, Hyderabad, but discontinued the course to pursue studies in medicine at Nagpur after which he served in Indian Army for a short while. Ocean Parkway is a boulevard in the west-central portion of the New York City borough of Brooklyn. Strabismus is a vision disorder in which the eyes do not properly align with each other when looking at an object. The eye that is focused on an object can alternate. The condition may be present occasionally or constantly. If present during a large part of childhood, it may result in amblyopia, or lazy eyes, and loss of depth perception. If onset is during adulthood, it is more likely to result in double vision. Strabismus can occur due to muscle dysfunction, farsightedness, problems in the brain, trauma or infections. Ptosis, also known as blepharoptosis, is a drooping or falling of the upper eyelid. The drooping may be worse after being awake longer when the individual's muscles are tired. This condition is sometimes called "lazy eye", but that term normally refers to the condition amblyopia. If severe enough and left untreated, the drooping eyelid can cause other conditions, such as amblyopia or astigmatism. A cleft lip contains an opening in the upper lip that may extend into the nose. The opening may be on one side, both sides, or in the middle. A cleft palate occurs when the palate (the roof of the mouth) contains an opening into the nose. The term orofacial cleft refers to either condition or to both occurring together. These disorders can result in feeding problems, speech problems, hearing problems, and frequent ear infections. Less than half the time the condition is associated with other disorders. Cleft lip and palate are the result of tissues of the face not joining properly during development. As such, they are a type of birth defect. The cause is unknown in most cases.
