Shakuntala Bharne
Shakuntala Bharne is an Indian vocalist, writer, poet and announcer at All India Radio. She is a writer and activist of the Konkani language agitation. Career She trained in music under the guidance of Gangubai Hangal, in Hubli. She has done a double graduation. She has written two books on music - ''Swaranand'' and ''Naadbrahm'', for which she received Goa Konkani Akademi and Konkani Bhasha Mandal award. She also wrote the biography of Pt. Prabhakar Karekar. She released an album called ''Goph'' at Swaranjali, a tribute concert to Gangubai Hangal. She was one of the poets at Uttējana, a poetry recital in Konkani, in 2014. In 2016, she performed at Vasant Bahar - Konkani Geetancho Haar, a Konkani musical programme. In 2017, she performed at ''Ghumttachem Fest'', in Socorro, Goa. Socorro, Goa
Socorro is a village that lies five kilometres to the east of Mapusa town in Bardez taluka. It is administered by a ''panchayat'' represented by members from the seven wards of Ambirna, Arrarim, Carrem, Maina, Porvorim, Vaddem and Zosvaddo. The Navhind Times
''The Navhind Times'' is an English language newspaper in Goa. Founded in 1963 and based in Panaji, the capital of Goa, it is the largest selling newspaper, amongst the three locally published English newspapers in the state. The other two being'' O Heraldo (The Herald)'' and ''Gomantak Times'' successively. According to the newspaper, it has a 52% of overall share market of advertisement space in Goa. History ''The Navhind Times'' was established on 18 February 1963, after India conquered the former Portuguese colony, it was Goa's first English newspaper, and was launched by the Dempo Brothers, including the elder Vasantarao Dempo. They were involved in mining business. The publication hired two editors Lambert Mascarenhas and T.V. Parvate. Sahitya Akademi
The Sahitya Akademi, India's National Academy of Letters, is an organisation dedicated to the promotion of literature in the languages of India. Founded on 12 March 1954, it is supported by, though independent of, the Indian government. Its office is located in Rabindra Bhavan near Mandi House in Delhi. Dadar ( ̪aːd̪əɾ is a densely populated residential and shopping neighbourhood in Mumbai. It is also a prominent railway and bus service hub with local and national connectivity. Prabhakar Karekar
Pandit Prabhakar Karekar (b 1944) is a Hindustani classical vocalist, born in Goa, India. He was awarded Tansen Samman in 2014 and Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in the year 2016. Background Prabhakar Janardan Karekar was born in 1944, in what was then Portuguese Goa. His Hindustani vocal music training came from Suresh Haldankar, Jitendra Abhisheki, and C. R. Vyas. He has been known as an outstanding performer and teacher, and is a graded artist of All India Radio and Doordarshan. Promoting Hindustani vocals Karekar is also the founder and Chairman of the ''Swarprabha Trust''. Karekar has trained several promising and accomplished young musicians.
