Shai Hills
Shai Hills is a suburb near district capital Dodowa in the Dangme West District of the Greater Accra Region of Ghana, north of Accra. Shai is a plain by topography but has outcrops of hills. The hills in the Shai area is base to several stone quarries. Its vegetation is a combination of open and wooded grassland, and fauna found there include guinea fowls, antelopes, baboons and francolins. Tourism Shai Hills Resource Reserve Location Shai Hills Resource Reserve is only 51 square kilometres and is the closest wildlife park to Accra, only 17 kilometers away compared to Mole National Park and Kakum National Park. Transport Shai Hills is served by a railway station on the eastern part of the national railway network, and is indeed a suburban terminus. Kakum National Park
Kakum National Park, located in the coastal environs of the Central Region of Ghana, covers an area of . Established in 1931 as a reserve, it was gazetted as a national park only in 1992 after an initial survey of avifauna was conducted. The area is covered with tropical forest. The uniqueness of this park lies in the fact that it was established at the initiative of the local people and not by the State Department of wildlife who are responsible for wildlife preservation in Ghana. It is one of only 3 locations in Africa with a canopy walkway, which is long and connects seven tree tops which provides access to the forest. The most notable endangered species of fauna in the park are Diana monkey, giant bongo antelope, yellow-backed duiker and African elephant. Mole National Park
Mole National Park is Ghana's largest wildlife refuge. The park is located in the Savannah region of Ghana on savanna and riparian ecosystems at an elevation of 50 m, with a sharp escarpment forming the southern boundary of the park. The park's entrance is reached through the nearby town of Larabanga. The Levi and Mole Rivers are ephemeral rivers flowing through the park, leaving behind only drinking holes during the long dry season. This area of Ghana receives over 10 mm per year of rainfall. Dodowa
Dodowa is a town located in the Greater Accra Region of Ghana, it is the district capital of Dangme West district, now Shai Osudoku District. The city is 39 km from the capital city, Accra. The notable tourist site found there is the Dodowa Forest. They celebrate "Ngmayemi festival". There is a Historical Forest where the Katamanso war ended. The Tsenku Waterfall is located in the Historical Dodowa Forest. This beautiful waterfall drops from a height of about 250 feet, running on stratified rocks into a cool, clean and clear pool with a large tilapia population.
