Shahjahan Chowdhury (film Director)
Shahjahan Chowdhury is a Bangladeshi film director and scriptwriter. As of 2011, he has made five films – ''Pinjar'' (1975), ''Shatru'' (1985), ''Uttarer Khep'' (2004) and ''Ek Khanda Jami'' (2004) and ''Madhumati'' (2011). Career Before 1971, Chowdhury worked for the newspaper ''Khobor''. Chowdhury debuted in film making through ''Pinjar'' (1975). He was co-director with the Pakistani filmmaker Suroor Barabankvi for the film ''Akhri Station''. After the independence of Bangladesh in 1971, he began working with ''Weekly Bichitra Bichitra is a defunct weekly literary magazine. Uttarer Khep
''Uttarer Khep'' is a 2000 Bangladeshi drama film directed by Shahjahan Chowdhury and starring Champa and Manna in lead roles. Suroor Barabankvi
Syed Saeed-ur-Rehman, also known by his pen name Suroor Barabankvi, ( 30 January 1919 – 13 April 1980) was a Pakistani Urdu poet and lyricist. Life and career Born Syed Saeed ur Rehman in Barabanki, Uttar Pradesh, British India in 1919, he wrote under the pseudonym ''Suroor'' (exhilaration). He started his poetry at the age of 18. He recited his poetry to Jigar Moradabadi, who appreciated his poetic talent. In 1951, Suroor participated in the Independence Day Mushaira at Dhaka, East Pakistan along with Jigar Moradabadi. In 1952, he visited East Pakistan where the noted Urdu scholar Abdul Haq offered him the job of General Secretary in the ‘'Anjuman-i Taraqqi-i Urdu’', in their Dhaka branch office and he started a magazine named ‘Filkaar’ there. Weekly Bichitra
Bichitra is a defunct weekly literary magazine. It was owned by the Government of Bangladesh and edited by Shahadat Chowdhury. The magazine has been described as a historic milestone and a pioneering magazine. History Fazal Shahabuddin is the founding editor of the magazine. It was founded in 1972. Bichitra was the first publication in Bangladesh to issue a special Eid edition. Ziaur Rahman talked about his role in the Bangladesh Liberation war and the leadership of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in an article in the magazine in 1972. On 17 May 1978, the Tokai, by Rafiqun Nabi, was first published in the magazine. The cartoon would go on to achieve iconic status in Bangladesh. On 7 December 1991, Sufia Kamal gave an interview to the magazine about her memories of Bangladesh Liberation war.
