Shahdag Mountain Resort
Shahdagh Mountain Resort is Azerbaijan's first and largest winter resort. Resort The Shahdag Mountain Resort Complex (Şahdağ Turizm Merkezi) opened to the public in 2012. It is located in the Azerbaijan's Greater Caucasus range, the site is located near Shahdag National Park, which is known for having an intact ecological system and an untouched flora and fauna. It is the first and largest ski resort in Azerbaijan. Plans for the project include 10-12 3 star hotels, golf-clubs, 160-180 cottages, Aqua Park and other objects (places for the living of employees, car parks, workshops for technical works etc.) in the complex. Mount Shahdagh ( az, Şahdağ; lez, Кас сув) is a mountain peak of the Greater Caucasus range, located in the Qusar District of Azerbaijan, close to the border with Russia. PGI Management (Pas Grau Internacional Management) is an Andorra-based, international ski operation management company. PGI Management is the international branch of SAETDE/Grandvalira. History PGI Management began on 1 December 1957, with the official opening of the first ski lift in Pas de la Casa, in Andorra, near the border with France. The previous summer, PGI's founder Francesc Viladomat had begun to work on establishing the company Teleesquís Viladomat. From 1957 to 1967, the ski resort growth created by Mr. Viladomat was incorporating state-of-the art facilities in Pas de la Casa. Qusar (also Gusar; az, Qusar, lez, Кцlар) is the capital of Qusar District, Azerbaijan. Qusar is located in the foothills of the Greater Caucasus, over the Qusarchay River, 35 kilometers southwest from Khudat railway station and about 180 km from Baku. Etymology According to the ''Oxford Concise Dictionary of World Place-Names'', the word literally means "man" and derives from Lezgian ''kus''.
