Shahabuddin Hekmatyar
Shahabuddin Hekmatyar is the younger brother of Gulbuddin Hekmatyar, the founder of Hezb-e-Islami Gulbuddin. He was captured by Pakistan undercover police on August 17, 2008. The United States classifies Hezb-e-Islami Gulbuddin as a terrorist organization. His capture was near Peshawar, on the road between the Shamshato refugee camp and the "University Town". Gulbuddin Hekmatyar
Gulbuddin Hekmatyar ( ps, ګلب الدين حكمتيار; born 1 August 1949) is an Afghan politician, former mujahideen leader and drug trafficker. He is the founder and current leader of the Hezb-e-Islami Gulbuddin political party, so called after Mohammad Yunus Khalis split from Hezbi Islami in 1979 to found Hezb-i Islami Khalis. He has twice served as Prime Minister during the 1990s. Hekmatyar joined the Muslim Youth organization as a student in the early 1970s, where he was known for his Islamic radicalism rejected by much of the organization. He spent time in Pakistan before returning to Afghanistan when the Soviet–Afghan War began in 1979, at which time the CIA began funding his rapidly growing Hezb-e Islami organization through the Pakistani intelligence service, ISI, one of the largest of the Afghan mujahideen. University Town, Peshawar

Shamshato Refugee Camp
The Shamshato refugee camp is a large refugee camp 25 kilometers southeast of Peshawar, Pakistan. Peshawar lies just east of Pakistan's Federally Administered Tribal Areas, which line Pakistan's border with Afghanistan. American intelligence analysts asserted during Guantanamo captive Sharifullah's Combatant Status Review Tribunal and his annual Administrative Review Board hearings that his stay in the refugee camp established an "enemy combatant" because they believed recruiters from the Hezb-e-Islami Gulbuddin militia had tried to recruit fighters within the camp. Sharifullah testified that he had been unaware of any militant presence during his stay in the camp. Hezb-e-Islami Gulbuddin
The Hezb-e-Islami Gulbuddin ( fa, حزب اسلامی گلبدین; abbreviated HIG), also referred to as Hezb-e-Islami or Hezb-i-Islami Afghanistan (HIA), is an Afghan political party and former militia, originally founded in 1976 as Hezb-e-Islami and led by Gulbuddin Hekmatyar. In 1979, Mulavi Younas Khalis split with Hekmatyar and established his own group, which became known as Hezb-i Islami Khalis; the remaining part of Hezb-e Islami, still headed by Hekmatyar, became known as Hezb-e Islami Gulbuddin. Hezbi Islami seeks to emulate the Muslim Brotherhood and to replace the various tribal factions of Afghanistan with one unified Islamic state.
