Charmaine Shamiso Mapimbiro (born 13 July 1994), professionally known as Sha Sha, is a Zimbabwean singer from Mutare. Hailed by many as "the queen of amapiano", her career began in 2011, at the age of 19 and later was discovered by Audius Mtawarira. She gained popularity for her collaborations with South African amapiano producers such as DJ Maphorisa and Kabza de Small. Having signed a record deal with Blaq Boy Music, her debut ''Blossom'' EP, was released in 2019. She was awarded Best New International Act at the 2020 BET Awards. The 20th BET Awards took place on June 28, 2020. The ceremony celebrates achievements in entertainment and honors music, sports, television, and movies. They also honored the many African-American people killed from police brutality and racial injustice in the United States. MTV Africa Music Awards 2021
The 2021 MTV Africa Music Awards ceremony was postponed. The event was set to be held in Kampala, Uganda. The award ceremony, was to be aired live on MTV Base, and MTV was to air the event globally, in 180 countries, for the first time, according to Paul Grein of Billboard. The show was to be hosted virtually by DJ Khaled in the City of Miami. The ceremony was set to feature performances from various African celebrities; Wizkid, Sheebah Karungi, Diamond Platnumz, Khaligraph Jones, Nasty C, Suspect 95, Soraia Ramos, and Calema, among others. 26th South African Music Awards
The 26th Annual South African Music Awards were held on 3–7 August 2020. Unlike previous years shows, the ceremony was broadcast as a five-night event, with the first four episodes being 30 minutes long, while the fifth one was a 45-minute grand finale. It was held virtually due to the effects of COVID-19 lockdowns, and for the first time, the award show was to be broadcast live on Multichoice's Mzansi Magic Channel (the award show was originally broadcast on SABC 1, but due to the channel's financial problems it was cancelled, then it was picked up by Multichoice). The South African Music Awards (often simply the SAMAs) are the Recording Industry of South Africa's music industry awards, established in 1995.
