Servite High School
Servite High School is a private, Catholic, all-male college preparatory high school operated by the Order of Friar Servants of Mary on a campus in the Los Angeles Metropolitan Area in Anaheim, California, US. It was founded by the Servites in 1958. As of 2017 it had about 9000 alumni. Its mascot is the Friar and its colors are black and white, trimmed with gold. It is located within the Roman Catholic Diocese of Orange, however, it is not a diocesan school, but is run privately by the Servite Order itself. History in 1958, the Servites responded to an invitation by the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Los Angeles to open a school, teaching the first classes at nearby St. Philip Benizi Elementary School until the first building was completed. Servite Order
The Servite Order, officially known as the Order of Servants of Mary ( la, Ordo Servorum Beatae Mariae Virginis; abbreviation: OSM), is one of the five original Catholic mendicant orders. It includes several branches of friars (priests and brothers), contemplative nuns, a congregation of active religious sisters, and lay groups. The Order's objectives are the sanctification of its members, the preaching of the Gospel, and the propagation of devotion to the Mother of God, with special reference to her sorrows. Jazz Band
A jazz band (jazz ensemble or jazz combo) is a musical ensemble that plays jazz music. Jazz bands vary in the quantity of its members and the style of jazz that they play but it is common to find a jazz band made up of a rhythm section and a horn section. The Seven Holy Founders of the Servite Order, by name Bonfilius, Alexis, Manettus, Amideus, Hugh, Sostene and Buonagiunta of Florence, were seven holy men of the town of Florence whom became bound to each other in a spiritual friendship that were eventually called by the Virgin Mother of God in a vision that they reportedly all shared in one and the same moment (though at first each was unaware that the other saw what he saw), whom they practised an intense devotion towards, to 'Leave the World, the Better to Serve Almighty God'. Servite College
Servite College is an independent Roman Catholic co-educational secondary day school, located in the Perth suburb of Tuart Hill, Western Australia. The school is operated by the Servite Order. History Servite College was founded by members of the Servite Order, who arrived in Perth in late 1951. In 1958 the Servite Friars established St. Philip’s Regional High School for Boys in Tuart Hill. The school opened with 95 students in two classrooms, educating boys in years 5 and 6. In 1968 the name was changed to Servite College, and in 1973 the College became the first co-educational Catholic secondary school in Western Australia, accepting female students from neighbouring St Kieran, now a Catholic primary school. Cornelia Connelly School of the Holy Child Jesus (Connelly), was a Catholic college-preparatory high school for girls in Anaheim, California, the only such independent school in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Orange. It operated from 1961 to 2020. At the time of its closure, Connelly enrolled 124 girls, and was accredited to the Western Association of Schools and Colleges and Western Catholic Educational Association among others.
