Seriefrämjandet
Seriefrämjandet (literally ''the promotion of comics'', but internationally, the name ''The Swedish Comics Association'' is generally used) is a Swedish association for everybody with an interest in comics, founded in 1968 by Henri Holmgren, Janne Lundström and Sture Hegerfors. The association acts to promote the status of the medium as a means of expression, and to increase the knowledge of the characteristics of the medium. With government funding, Seriefrämjandet has started Svenskt Seriearkiv, an archive devoted to preservering and documenting the history of the Swedish comics business. In 2005, Seriefrämjandet opened Seriecenter (literally ''Comics Centre'') in Malmö, with offices, exhibition space and small studio for creators. The association also has local chapters in several major cities. Fredrik Strömberg
Fredrik Strömberg (born 14 July 1968) is a Swedish journalist and author, writing mostly about comics. He is the chairman of Seriefrämjandet (the Swedish Comics Association), the editor for Bild & Bubbla and the headmaster for a comics art school. Career Strömberg started his professional career as a freelance journalist in 1994, and he has since then written for a large number of publications including the Swedish ''Dagens Nyheter'', the Danish ''Strip!'', the Dutch ''Stripschrift'' and the American ''International Journal of Comic Art''. Strömberg has been the chairman of Seriefrämjandet (the Swedish Comics Association) since 1997, is one of the editors of the magazine ''Bild & Bubbla'' and a member of the Urhunden jury. He was also one of the driving forces behind the establishment of Seriecenter (the Comics Art Centre) in Malmö and Seriearkivet (the Swedish Comics Archive) in Lund. Urhunden Prizes
Urhunden Prizes have been given out each year by the Swedish Comics Association ('' Svenska Seriefrämjandet'') since 1987. There are three categories: Best Swedish (Domestic) Album of the Year (1987–2005), Best Foreign Album of the Year (1987–2005), and the "Unghunden" for best children and youth comics (1994–2005). The award is named after the Swedish cartoon strip "Urhunden" which was created by Oskar Emil "O.A." Andersson (1877–1906), who was one of the pioneers in Swedish comics. It featured a prehistoric man in modern surroundings. The title character was a mixture of a dog and a dinosaur, with erratic and often drastic behavior. A wiki ( ) is an online hypertext publication collaboratively edited and managed by its own audience, using a web browser. A typical wiki contains multiple pages for the subjects or scope of the project, and could be either open to the public or limited to use within an organization for maintaining its internal knowledge base. Swedish Language
Swedish ( ) is a North Germanic language spoken predominantly in Sweden and in parts of Finland. It has at least 10 million native speakers, the fourth most spoken Germanic language and the first among any other of its type in the Nordic countries overall. Speech balloons (also speech bubbles, dialogue balloons, or word balloons) are a graphic convention used most commonly in comic books, comics, and cartoons to allow words (and much less often, pictures) to be understood as representing a character's speech or thoughts. Malmö
