Serie B (Ecuador)
The Primera Categoría Serie B, shortened to Serie B or Primera B, is a professional football league in Ecuador. It is in the second tier of the Ecuadorian football league system. Currently contested by ten clubs, it operates a system of promotion and relegation with the top-flight Serie A and the bottom-level Segunda Categoría. The season runs from February to December in two stages. For sponsorship reasons, it is known as the LigaPro Banco Pichincha Pymes. Serie B has been in place since 1971 and has been held on a yearly basis since (except 1973 and 1983–88), often holding two tournaments a year. Gualaceo, nicknamed “El Jardin del Azuay” (The Garden of Azuay), is a canton in the sierra region of Ecuador in the Azuay Province. It is located 35 km east from the city of Cuenca and is one of the biggest cities in Azuay. Gualaceo has 38.587 inhabitants, is crossed by the three rivers Santa Bárbara, San Francisco and Guaymincay, and carries the nickname “El Jardin del Azuay” due to the natural surroundings and mountains. Sociedad Deportivo Quito is an Ecuadorian non-professional club football club based in Quito. For most of its existence, it competed in Serie A, the highest level of the Ecuadorian professional football league. And currently competes in the Segunda Categoría de Pichincha. Centro Deportivo Olmedo
Club Centro Deportivo Olmedo is an Ecuadorian professional football club based in Riobamba, Ecuador. They play in the Serie B. The club won their only national championship in 2000. Their achievement made them the first club outside Quito and Guayaquil to win a national championship. They have also won two Serie B titles in 1994 and 2003. Internationally, they have played in the Copa Libertadores four times, reaching the Round of 16 once in 2002. Founded in 1919, Olmedo is one of the oldest clubs in the Serie A or Serie B. Portoviejo (), also known as San Gregorio de Portoviejo, is a city in Ecuador, and the capital of the Province of Manabí from the Pacific coast. Sangolquí is a suburb of Quito and is the seat of Rumiñahui canton in the province of Pichincha, in northern Ecuador. Estadio Modelo Alberto Spencer, also known as just Estadio Modelo, is a multi-purpose stadium in Guayaquil, Ecuador.
