Serginho Baiano
Elisérgio da Silva (born 5 January 1978), commonly known as Serginho Baiano, is a Brazilian retired footballer who played as a left winger. He played for nearly 20 clubs during his career, competing professionally in Portugal, South Korea and Japan and amassing Primeira Liga totals of 93 games and 23 goals over the course of seven seasons. In his country, he represented mostly teams in the Northeast Region. Football career Early years / Boavista Born in Rio Real, Bahia, Serginho started his professional career with Esporte Clube Bahia, then left for clubs in Alagoas. In 2001–02, he moved abroad and joined Portuguese League title holders Boavista FC, scoring seven goals in 22 games as the northern side finished in second position; he also appeared in five matches (two starts) in the season's UEFA Champions League. Clube de Regatas Brasil, commonly referred to as CRB, is a Brazilian professional football club based in Maceió, Alagoas. It competes in the Série B, the second tier of Brazilian football, as well as in the Campeonato Alagoano, the top flight of the Alagoas state football league. The 2001–02 UEFA Champions League was the 47th season of the UEFA Champions League, UEFA's premier club football tournament, and the 10th since its rebranding from the "European Champion Clubs' Cup" or "European Cup". The tournament was won by Real Madrid, who beat Bayer Leverkusen in the final to claim their ninth European Cup title. The final's winning goal was scored by Zinedine Zidane, with a left-footed volley from the edge of the penalty area into the top left corner. The 2000–01 Primeira Liga was the 67th edition of the top flight of Portuguese football. It started on 19 August 2000 with a match between Braga and Vitória de Guimarães, and ended on 27 May 2001. The league was contested by 18 clubs, with Sporting CP as the defending champions. Boavista won their first league title, becoming only the second champions from outside the Portuguese "Big Three" (''Os Três Grandes'') of Benfica, Porto and Sporting, after Belenenses in the 1945–46 season. The league was contested by 18 clubs with Boavista as the defending champions. Sporting CP won the league and qualified for the 2002–03 UEFA Champions League third qualifying round, along with Boavista, who qualified for the second round. Porto and Leixões from the third division qualified for the 2002–03 UEFA Cup; in opposite, Salgueiros, Farense and Alverca were relegated to the Segunda Liga. The Primeira Liga (; English: Premier League, also written as Liga Portugal 1), also known as Liga Portugal Bwin for sponsorship reasons, is the top level of the Portuguese football league system.
