Serejeqa
Serejeqa ( ar, سيريجاكا, ti, ሰረጃቓ) is a town in the Anseba Region of Eritrea. It is located about 20 km northwest of Asmara on the asphalt road to Keren, which in turn lies roughly 75 km away. The town is situated on the ridge of the Eritrean highlands. It is the upper endpoint of a gravel-road that traverses the eastern escarpments and has its other endpoint in Shebah, on the low-lying plains at the foot of escarpments. With this gravel road, Serejeqa connects the north-western part of the highlands, including the city of Keren (Eritrea's third largest city) with the Red Sea and the port of Massawa (the second largest city). This route can be traveled without having to pass through the congested capital and largest city Asmara or use the equally congested mountain-segment of the Asmara- Massawa asphalt road. She'eb
She'eb ( tig, ሽዕብ) is a town in the Northern Red Sea region of Eritrea. It lies on the fertile plain at the foot of the eastern escarpment of the Eritrean Highlands. History It was the site of a massacre during the Eritrean War of Independence. The entire town was raised and burnt to the ground in 1988, and the people who had not been able to flee were ordered to assemble and subsequently run over with tanks while those trying to flee were shot. The massacre left about 400 people dead, including many elderly and children who had not been able to flee in advance. The Ethiopian army claimed that the town was notorious for harboring Eritrean rebels. They proceeded to kill at least 100 more civilians in neighboring villages.Brenda K. Anseba Region (Tigrinya: ዞባ ዓንሰባ, it, Regione dell'Anseba) is an administrative region of Eritrea, located in northern Eritrea. The capital and the most populous city in the region is Keren. Asmara ( ), or Asmera, is the capital and most populous city of Eritrea, in the country's Central Region. Eritrean Highlands
The Eritrean Highlands are a mountainous region in central Eritrea. Bordered to the south by the Mareb River, it is a northern continuation of the Ethiopian Highlands. The region has seen tremendous deforestation since the colonial period, which began in the late 19th century. The Highlands are at particular risk of deforestation and associated soil erosion. Furthermore, the region, lying south of the Sahel are at particular risk of desertification and frequent drought. The Highlands experience, as most tropical regions, two seasons; the rainy season (''kremti'') is from June-September while the dry season (''haggai'') is from September to June. Gahtelai
Gahtelai ( ar, غاهتلاي) is the name of a river, town and plain situated in the Northern Red Sea administrative region of Eritrea. It is not the correct meaning of Gahtelai written in Tigrinya. Because the word is of Saho "gahte" means is back and "lai" means water. Gahtelai Means back water, because the river is seasonal . In addition the region is mainly inhabited by the Saho people.
