Septotrapelia Multiseptata
''Septotrapelia multiseptata'' is a species of bryophilous (moss-dwelling) lichen in the family Byssolomataceae. Found in South Korea, it was formally described as a new species in 2014 by lichenologists André Aptroot and Kwang-Hee Moon. The type specimens were collected by the first author from Mabok-san mountain (Goheung County, South Jeolla Province) at altitudes between ; there, the lichen was overgrowing mosses that were growing on siliceous rock. It has a thin (less than 0.1 mm thick) mottled greyish and olive green thallus covering areas of up to about . The thallus lacks a cortex; rather, it comprises small, irregularly shaped areoles on a somewhat gelatinous crust. The photobiont partner of the lichen is an myrmecioid green alga, which measures 2–4 μm in diameter. Ascospores of the lichen have a long ellipsoid shape, and measure 17–20 by 6.5–7.5 μm. Pilocarpaceae
The Pilocarpaceae are a family of crustose lichens in the order Lecanorales. The species of this family have a cosmopolitan distribution and have been found in a variety of climatic regions. Pilocarpaceae was circumscribed by Alexander Zahlbruckner in Adolf Engler's influential 1905 work ''Die Natürlichen Pflanzenfamilien''. Description Pilocarpaceae species are crustose and have ascomata in the form of an brightly-coloured apothecium with a poorly-developed margin comprising loosely-intertwined hyphae. André Aptroot
André Aptroot (Heemskerk, 1961) is a Dutch mycologist and lichenologist. In 1993 he did his PhD at the University of Utrecht under the supervision of Robbert Gradstein (nl). His dissertation was titled "Systematic studies on pyrenocarpous lichens and related fungi". He specializes in fungi and lichens on which he has several hundreds of publications to his name. He has worked as curator at Centraalbureau voor Schimmelcultures (now Westerdijk Institute). Aptroot is the founder of the Consultancy for Bryology and Lichenology, which is located in Soest where there is a herbarium with a collection of lichens mainly from the Netherlands and the tropics. From 2008 he has been collection manager at Pinetum Blijdenstein (nl) in Hilversum. He is a member of the International Association for Lichenology and the American Bryological and Lichenological Society.
