Sennkogel
The Sennkogel is a mountain in the Schnalskamm group of the Ötztal Alps. Originally bearing the name 3rd Kreuzköpfe, the first ascendant, E.J. Franz Senn
Franz Xaverius Senn (19 March 1831 – 31 January 1884) was an Austrian priest and mountaineer who was among the first to promote alpinism and foster the early development of mountaineering in Tyrol. His concern for the poverty of his parishioners led him to encourage tourism into the Stubaital and Ötztal valleys. Senn was a founding member of the Austrian and German alpine associations. The Franz Senn Hütte and the Sennkogel are named in his honour. The Ötztal Alps ( it, Alpi Venoste, german: Ötztaler Alpen) are a mountain range in the Central Eastern Alps, in the State of Tyrol in western Austria and the Province of South Tyrol in northern Italy. Access roads and normal climbing route To access the mountain you walk from Vent in the direction of Martin Busch hut which is at 2501 meters above the sea. This is a walk up, and it is normally free of snow in the summer time. Plan between 4 and 5 hours from Vent to the summit. From the village to the hut takes 2 to 3 hours.
