Blenduk Church
The Protestant Church in Western Indonesia Immanuel Semarang (), better known as Blenduk Church (), is a Protestant church in Semarang, Central Java, Indonesia. Built in 1753, it is the oldest church in the province. Architecture and layout Blenduk Church, at 32 Letjen Suprapto Street in the old town of Semarang, Central Java, is located in a small courtyard between former office buildings. The Jiwasraya building is located to the south, across the street, while the Kerta Niaga offices are to its west. The octagonal church, built on a stone foundation and with single-layer brick walls, has its ground floor at street level. Lawang Sewu
''Lawang Sewu'' () is a former office building in Kota Semarang, Semarang, Central Java, Indonesia. It was a head office of the Dutch East Indies Railway Co. (Nederlandsch-Indische Spoorweg Maatschappij/NIS) and is owned by the national railway company Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI). Its predecessor, Djawatan Kereta Api, was seized every rail transport infrastructures and offices from Dutch occupation. Today the building is used as a museum and heritage railway gallery, currently operated by Heritage Unit of KAI and its subsidiary KAI Wisata. The Semarang City Regional House of Representatives is the unicameral municipal legislature of the city of Semarang, Central Java, Indonesia. It has 50 members, who are elected every five years, simultaneously with the national legislative election. Sam Poo Kong
Sam Poo Kong (), also known as Gedung Batu Temple, is the oldest Chinese temple in Semarang, Central Java, Indonesia. Originally established by the Chinese explorer Zheng He (also known as Ma Sanbao), it is now shared by Indonesians of multiple religious denominations, including Muslims and Buddhists, and ethnicities, including Chinese and Javanese. History The foundations of Sam Poo Kong were set when Chinese Muslim explorer Admiral Zheng He arrived in the western part of what is now Semarang via the Garang River; the year is disputed, with suggestions ranging from 1400 to 1416. After disembarking from his ships, Zheng found a cave in a rocky hillside and used it for prayer. He established a small temple before leaving Java but, having grown fond of the area, his deputy Wang Jing and several crewmen remained behind. A statuette of Zheng was installed in the cave. The Great Mosque of Central Java () is a mosque in the city of Semarang, Central Java, Indonesia. Layout The mosque area covers . There are three central buildings arranged in the shape of a U, with the domed mosque at the centre. All buildings have pitched, tiled roofs, while the central mosque has four minarets. Tugu Muda
("Youth Monument") is a stone monument in Semarang, Central Java commemorating the struggle for independence by Indonesian youth. It was dedicated by President Sukarno on 20 May 1953 to commemorate the continuous five-day battle between the youth of Semarang and a Japanese battalion led by Major Kido from 14 to 19 October 1945. Japanese forces drove the Dutch from Indonesia as the "elder brother of Asia"; however, the Japanese were crueler to dissidents than their Dutch counterparts.
