Selvam (2005 Film)
''Selvam'' is a 2005 Tamil-language romantic psychological thriller film directed and produced by Agathiyan. The film stars Nandha, Uma, and Vani. The film had musical score by Deva and was released on 12 August 2005. Plot The movie begins with Selvam (Nandha) coming to Chennai. After a quarrel with a person, he suffers a head injury and forgets about his past. He rushes to a hospital where he seeks the help of Dr. Lakshmi (Ranjitha). Lakshmi assigns Dr. Thendral (Uma) to treat him back to his normal self. Selvam does not remember his name, so he is christened as Kannan by the hospital doctors. Thendral falls in love with Kannan and expresses her love for him. A couple of incidents helps Kannan know about his past. He returns to his village and meets his parents and fiancée Jyothy (Vani), waiting for his return. Agathiyan
Agathiyan (born 18 August 1952; ) is an Indian film director, screenwriter, producer, lyricist, and actor. He was the first director in Tamil cinema to win the National Film Award for Best Direction for ''Kadhal Kottai'' (1996). For the film, he also won National Film Award for Best Screenplay and Filmfare Award for Best Director – Tamil. Career Agathiyan, a director in his late forties entered films a decade back and struggled as an assistant to various directors. Hailing from a agriculturist family, he spent a happy-go-lucky time in college, and when he decided to pack his bags and come to Chennai to try his luck in films as a director, he lost his family's support. Saindhavi is a Carnatic music vocalist and an Indian film playback singer. She has been performing from the age of 12. Personal life Saindhavi married her schoolmate, composer G. V. Karthik (born 7 November 1980) is an Indian playback singer and composer. Karthik started his professional singing career as a backing vocalist and has since been working as a playback singer. He has sung more than 8000 songs in 15 Indian languages including Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, Odia, Bengali, Marathi and Hindi.
