Gert Sellheim
Gert Sellheim (1901–1970) was a German Australian, German-Australian artist. He won the Sulman Prize for his work in 1939 for his Mural Decoration on wall of Victorian Government Tourist Bureau, Hotel Australia Building, 272 Collins Street, Melbourne. Sellheim was born in Estonia to Germany, German parents and studied architecture at universities in Germany before migrating to Western Australia in 1926. He established an architecture and design practice in Melbourne in 1930, and moved to Sydney in 1947. A significant selection of his work was exhibited in the exhibition ''Aboriginal Art and its Application'' organised by the Australian Museum, Sydney in 1941 and his design for an 'Aboriginal Art' stamp was released in Australia in 1948. Hugo Sellheim
Hugo Sellheim (December 28, 1871, Biblis bei Worms – April 22, 1936, Leipzig) was a pioneering physician in the field of gynecology and obstetrics. He is credited with performing the first thoracic paravertebral block, in 1905. Katharina Sellheim
Katharina Sellheim is a German classical pianist, with a focus on chamber music and lied accompaniment. She has appeared in recitals internationally, collaborating with members of the Münchner Philharmoniker, and has been a lecturer at the Musikhochschule Hannover. Career Born in the daughter of the cellist Friedrich-Jürgen Sellheim, Katharina appeared in public first in 1994, with her father. A year later she won first prize in the national competition Jugend musiziert in two categories, piano solo and vocal accompaniment. Sellheim studied at the Musikhochschule Hannover with Karl-Heinz Kämmerling and Markus Becker, and in Paris at the Ecole Normale de Musique Alfred Cortot with Germaine Mounier. Konstantin Sellheim
Konstantin Sellheim (born 1978) is a German classical violist, who has appeared internationally with a focus on chamber music. He is a violist of the Münchner Philharmoniker, and lecturer of viola at the Universität der Künste Berlin. Career Sellheim began to play violin at age six. He studied violin at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hannover. He then studied viola, from 1996 with of the NDR Radiophilharmonie, from 1999 with Hartmut Rohde at the Universität der Künste Berlin, from 2004 with Nobuko Imai in Amsterdam, and with Wilfried Strehle of the Berliner Philharmoniker. He was from 2004 violist with the Staatskapelle Berlin conducted by Daniel Barenboim, and from 2006 violist of the Münchner Philharmoniker. Philip Frederic Sellheim
Philip Frederic Sellheim (1832–1899) was a Hessian pastoralist and mining official in Australia in the latter half of the 19th century. He was born on 28 September 1832 at Konradsdorf in the Grand Duchy of Hesse. His parents were Heinrich and Marian Emma Sophia, née Schaefer. He was educated to a level which enabled him to study sheep breeding at the Royal Veterinary Academy of Berlin. Early life Sellheim emigrated to Queensland in 1855, and was employed as the manager of Banana station on the Dawson River for four years. He then joined George Dalrymple on an expedition to explore the Burdekin River catchment. Pastoralist In 1861 Sellheim and a partner took up Strathmore (near present-day Collinsville) a pastoral lease on which they ran sheep for five years. Victor Sellheim
Major General Victor Conradsdorf Morisset Sellheim, (4 May 1866 – 25 January 1928) was an Australian military officer during the Second Boer War and the First World War. Sellheim fought in the Second Boer War with Chauvel's Mounted Infantry and fought in the Battle of Modder River. For his actions during the war, Sellheim became a Companion of the Order of the Bath. After serving in a variety of staff positions, he became Quartermaster general of the Australian Military Forces in 1912 and two years later was Adjutant general. Between 1914 and 1916 he oversaw the Australian Imperial Force base at Cairo. He became the Adjutant general again. After the end of the First World War, Sellheim became Quartermaster general in 1920 but resigned in 1927 to become Administrator of Norfolk Island, where he died on heart failure in 1928.
