Seidelin Family
The Seidelin family is a Danish family descending from bailiff and councilman in Helsingør Michel Seidel (died 1616). He was originally from Werder in Pomerania or East Prussia and purchased a house in the city in 1589. Nothing else is known about his background. The name Seidelin was passed on through his daughters who in accordance with German tradition added the suffix -in to their father's name. Noble family Post Master-General Hans Seidelin (1665-1740), a great grandson of Michel Seidel, was ennobled in 1731. His daughter, Sophie Seidelin (1693-1741) married royal ''confessionarius'' Iver Brinck (1719-1728). Their son, Hans Didrik Brinck-Seidelin (1720-1778), owner of Stamhuset Hagested, was ennobled under the name Brinck-Seidelin in 1752. Nivaagaard
Nivaagaard is a historic property in Nivå in the northern outskirts of Copenhagen, Denmark. It is now home to an art gallery and the park is open to the public. History The estate was founded in 1767 by Adam von Lüttichau when he purchased Nivaa Havnegård ("Nivaa Harbour House") from the Crown. The property was from the beginning associated with the Galley Harbour at Nivaa which was planned in 1753 but soon abandoned. The name Nivaagaard was introduced in 1793. The estate was acquired by Alfred Hage in 1862. Alfred Hage's eldest son, Johannes Hage, inherited the estate in 1872. The main building was severely damaged in a fire in 1873. A new main building was completed to design by Ferdinand Vilhelm Jensen in 1881. Nivaagaard was a dominating factor in Nivaa's development over the next decades. Bernhard Seidelin
Bernhard Seidelin (1820–1863) was a Danish architect. His most notable works include Helsingør station and Nyboder Girls' School. Early life and education Seidelin was born at Sankt Hans Hospital in Roskilde, the son of medical doctor at Sankt Hans Hospital Johannes Henrik Seidelin and Johanne Marie Petersen. He apprenticed as a mason before enrolling at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in 1840. He initially studied under G. F. Hetsch and later under Michael Gottlieb Bindesbøll who was working on Thorvaldsens Museum. He won the Academy's small silver medal in 1846 and the large silver medal in 1840. He unsuccessfully competed for the gold medal in 1851, 1853 and 1855. Career Seidelin's most important works include Helsingør station in Helsingør, Albani Brewery in Odense and Nyboder Girls' School.
