Seema Chishti
Seema Chishti is a journalist and writer from Delhi, India. She is currently one of the editors of the digital news portal ''The Wire''. She was editor for the Hindi and Delhi Bureau head for the BBC and a deputy editor at the Indian daily ''The New Indian Express''. She has also published the book ''Sumitra and Anees: Tales and Recipes From a Khichdi Family'' and co-authored ''Note By Note: The India Story (1947–2017)''. Early life and education Seema is daughter of Anees Chishti and Sumitra Chisthi. Chishti has a bachelor's from St. Stephen's College, Delhi and a master's degree in economics from Jawaharlal Nehru University. ''The Wire'' is an Indian nonprofit news and opinion website. It was founded in 2015 by Siddharth Varadarajan, Sidharth Bhatia, and M. K. Venu. It counts among the news outlets that are independent of the Indian government, and has been subject to several defamation suits by state governments, businessmen, politicians and multinational companies. On 9 May 2025, it was blocked by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology under the IT Act for allegedly violating freedom of the press. Sitaram Yechury
Sitaram Yechury (12 August 1952 – 12 September 2024) was an Indian Marxist politician and the General Secretary of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), who was a member of the Politburo of the CPI(M) since 1992. Previously, he was a Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha, West Bengal, from 2005 to 2017. Early life Yechury was born on 12 August 1952 into a Telugu Brahmin family in Madras. His father Sarveswara Somayajula Yechury and mother Kalpakam Yechury were natives of Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh. His father was an engineer in the Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation.
