See Dad Run
''See Dad Run'' is an American television sitcom that premiered on Nick at Nite on October 6, 2012. It stars Scott Baio, who also serves as an executive producer. On March 17, 2014, Nick at Nite confirmed that season three would be the last. After a decade on television (doing a show of the same name as the actual show's title), actor David Hobbs (Scott Baio) becomes a stay-at-home dad so his soap-opera star wife (Alanna Ubach) can get back in the spotlight, but he quickly realizes that playing a dad on television is much different from the real thing. He has to take care of his three kids, Emily ( Ryan Newman), Joe (Jackson Brundage) and Janie (Bailey Michelle Brown) with the help of his best friends, Marcus ( Mark Curry) and Kevin (Ramy Youssef). A sitcom, a portmanteau of situation comedy, or situational comedy, is a genre of comedy centered on a fixed set of characters who mostly carry over from episode to episode. Sitcoms can be contrasted with sketch comedy, where a troupe may use new characters in each sketch, and stand-up comedy, where a comedian tells jokes and stories to an audience. Sitcoms originated in radio, but today are found mostly on television as one of its dominant narrative forms. A situation comedy television program may be recorded in front of a studio audience, depending on the program's production format. The effect of a live studio audience can be imitated or enhanced by the use of a laugh track.
