SeeReal Technologies
SeeReal Technologies GmbH is a Dresden-based company focusing on the development of 3D displays. It is owned by its Luxembourg parent company SeeReal Technologies S.A., which is responsible for marketing, partnering and IP licensing. The firm was founded in 2002 by Dr. Armin Schwerdtner, who had previously headed an optics research group at the Dresden University of Technology (TU Dresden). SeeReal develops technology that is licensed to display manufacturers, including several variants of a tracked autostereoscopic display. The firm has presented a real-time desktop holographic display on the SID 2007 Display Week in Long Beach (California) and thFPD2007 in Yokohama (Japan). The firm owns more than 100 patents in the field of holographic and autostereoscopic 3D displays. Holography
Holography is a technique that enables a wavefront to be recorded and later re-constructed. Holography is best known as a method of generating real three-dimensional images, but it also has a wide range of other applications. In principle, it is possible to make a hologram for any type of wave. A hologram is made by superimposing a second wavefront (normally called the reference beam) on the wavefront of interest, thereby generating an interference pattern which is recorded on a physical medium. When only the second wavefront illuminates the interference pattern, it is diffracted to recreate the original wavefront. A volumetric display device is a display device that forms a visual representation of an object in three physical dimensions, as opposed to the planar image of traditional screens that simulate depth through a number of different visual effects.
