	Sedgemoor District Council Elections Sedgemoor District Council was the local authority for the non-metropolitan district, district of Sedgemoor in Somerset, England. The council was elected every four years. Since the last boundary changes in 1999, 50 councillors were elected from 25 Wards of the United Kingdom, wards. The council was abolished on 1 April 2023, when it was replaced by Somerset Council, a unitary authority. 	Sedgemoor District Council Sedgemoor District Council was a local government district in Somerset, England covering the Sedgemoor district. It was Local Government Act 1972, established in 1974 by the merger of Bridgwater and Burnham-On-Sea Urban District Councils. It was replaced on 1 April 2023 by Somerset Council. Political control Past voting trends have placed strong cores of Labour Party (UK), Labour voters in Bridgwater Town, with Conservative support coming from the Villages such as Pawlett, Wedmore and Shipham. Liberal Democrats (UK), Liberal Democrats fared well in Burnham and Highbridge areas. In 1995, the Liberal Democrats and Labour took 26 seats together, out-numbering the Conservatives 24 seats, and they formed a coalition.
