Security Council Of Abkhazia
The Security Council of Abkhazia (russian: Совет Безопасности Республики Абхазия), abbreviated as the Sovbez of Abkhazia (russian: Совбез Абхазии) is the highest national security decision-making body in the Government of Abkhazia, serving as an advisory body to the President of Abkhazia. The Security Council provides way for the implementation of the constitutional powers of the President given to him/her by the Constitution of Abkhazia. It is located at the buildings on 32 Mahadzhirov Embankment. Aslan Georgievich Bzhania ( ab, Аслан Гьаргь-иԥа Бжьаниа, translit=Aslan G'arg'-ipa Bž'ania, ka, ასლან გიორგის-ძე ბჟანია, tr, russian: Аслан Георгиевич Бжания; born 6 April 1963) is an Abkhaz politician that has served as the President of Abkhazia since 23 April 2020. He was the Head of the State Security Service from 2010 to 2014, and one of the leaders of the opposition in Abkhazia from 2016. He ran in the 2019 presidential election, but was forced to withdraw due to poisoning. He won the subsequent 2020 presidential election. The Security Council of Armenia ( hy, Անվտանգության խորհուրդ, translit=Hayastani Anvtangut’yan khorhurd) is the highest decision-making defence and law enforcement body in the Republic of Armenia. Nugzar Ashuba
Nugzar Nuri-ipa Ashuba ( Abkhaz: Нугзар Нури-иҧа Ашәба, ka, ნუგზარ აშუბა) is a senior politician from Abkhazia. He was Minister of Culture from 1986 until 1992 and the first Chairman of the State Repatriation Committee from 1992 until 1995. He was elected to the People's Assembly of Abkhazia in the 2002 elections, and he was elected Speaker on 3 April 2002 with 23 votes in favour, 10 against and 1 abstention. Ashuba was re-elected in 2007 both as Deputy and as Speaker, but suffered a first-round loss in the 2012 elections. When President Sergei Bagapsh died in 2011, and Vice President Alexander Ankvab participated in the subsequent Presidential election, Ashuba acted as President. Otar Mikhailovich Khetsia (russian: Отар Михайлович Хеция; born 19 February 1965) has twice been Minister of Internal Affairs of Abkhazia. Career Otar Khetsia was first appointed Interior Minister after the election of President Sergei Bagapsh in 2005. On 12 August 2010, Otar Khetsia was dismissed as Interior Minister and on 18 August, appointed Secretary of the State Security Council. He was temporarily succeeded by his First Deputy Minister Ramin Gablaia until First Deputy Minister of Taxes and Fees Leonid Dzapshba was appointed the new Minister of the Interior on 22 September. Stanislav Lakoba ( ab, Станислав Лакоба, ka, სტანისლავ ლაკობა; born 23 February 1953) is an academic and politician from Abkhazia. Lakoba was Sergei Bagapsh's Vice-Presidential candidate in the 2004 Presidential election and from 2005 to 2009 and again from 2011 to 2013 he served as Secretary of the Security Council. He is Professor in Archeology, Ethnology and History at the Abkhazian State University. Early life and career Stanislav Lakoba was born on 23 February 1953 in Sukhumi. Almasbei Ivanovich Kchach () was a former government member and vice-presidential candidate from Abkhazia who committed suicide when investigators came to arrest him in connection with an assassination attempt on President Alexander Ankvab. Political career under President Ardzinba On 2 June 1996, President Vladislav Ardzinba appointed Almasbei Kchach to succeed Givi Agrba as interior minister. Kchach had up until that point been head of Ardzinba's own security office. He remained in that position until 2 July 2001, when he was replaced by Supreme Court Judge Zurab Agumava. The office of Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia was created on 17 May 1993, during the 1992–1993 war with Georgia. State Security Service Of Abkhazia
The State Security Service of Abkhazia is the principal security and intelligence agency of Abkhazia. History On 27 November 1991, the Supreme Soviet of Abkhazia decreed to abolish the Abkhazian KGB and to establish the State Security Service. On 4 December 1992, the Supreme Soviet shortened its name to Security Service of Abkhazia. Until 1992, the State Security Service was led by Grigori Komoshvili. After the outbreak of the 1992–1993 war with Georgia, Komoshvili's Deputy Gennadi Berulava became the new head.
