Sebastian Kronenwetter
Sebastian Kronenwetter (January 20, 1833 – April 27, 1902) was a Wisconsin pioneer, businessman, and state legislator. Born in Württemberg, Kronenwetter and his family emigrated to the United States settling in Pennsylvania. In 1857, Kronenwetter came to Marathon County, Wisconsin, where he was in the logging and lumbering business in the Mosinee, Wisconsin area. The village of Kronenwetter, Wisconsin was named after him. The Kingdom of Württemberg (german: Königreich Württemberg ) was a German state that existed from 1805 to 1918, located within the area that is now Baden-Württemberg. Marathon County is a county located in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. As of the 2020 census, the population was 138,013. Marathon County's seat is Wausau. It was founded in 1850, created from a portion of Portage County. At that time the county stretched to the northern border with the upper Michigan peninsula. Mosinee is a city in Marathon County, Wisconsin. It is part of the Wausau, Wisconsin Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 3,988 at the time of the 2010 census. History Early history The traditional inhabitants of the area were the Ojibwe, the Potawatomi and the Menominee. However, the name is the Hochunk Mōsį́nį, the "Cold Country," from ''mō'', an old form of ''mą'', meaning "earth, ground, land, country"; and ''sį́nį'', "cold." The Ojibwe ceded the territory to the United States in 1837 when they sold most of their land in what would become Wisconsin, though they were guaranteed the right to continue hunting, fishing, and gathering wild rice on the ceded lands. Kronenwetter is a village in Marathon County, Wisconsin, United States. It is the largest village by land area (although Suamico is larger when its water area is added) in the state of Wisconsin, as well as in the entire United States, and the third-largest community by population in Marathon County. It is part of the Wausau, Wisconsin Metropolitan Statistical Area. As of the 2010 census, the population of Kronenwetter was 7,210, an increase from the 2000 census which had the community at 5,369. The residential community of Evergreen is located in the village. Evergreen was a former census-designated place. The former unincorporated community of Peplin was also located in the town of Kronenwetter before its incorporation into a village. The Wisconsin State Assembly is the lower house of the Wisconsin Legislature. Together with the smaller Wisconsin Senate, the two constitute the legislative branch of the U.S. state of Wisconsin. Württemberger Emigrants To The United States
The Württemberger, Baden-Württemberger or Württemberg is a Warmblood horse breed originating in Germany. They are primarily riding horses, and are selectively bred for dressage and show jumping. Breed History The breed registry studbook was founded in 1895, and around 1896, the Marbach stud began concentrating on the original Württemberger type, which was a multi-purpose horse used for both draft and under-saddle work. The original horses were produced by introducing Arabian, Trakehner, Anglo-Norman, Friesian, Spanish, Barb, and Suffolk Punch blood to local warmblood lines. An Anglo-Norman stallion named Faust was a significant early influence on the breed, and contributed to the original shape of the breed.
