Sean Robert Polley (born 27 April 1981) is an English cricketer. Polley is a right-handed batting (cricket), batsman who bowls right-arm seam bowling, medium-fast. He was born in Basra, Iraq. While studying for his degree at Durham University, Polley made his first-class cricket, first-class debut for Durham MCC University, Durham UCCE against Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club, Nottinghamshire in 2003. He made two further first-class appearance in 2003, against Durham County Cricket Club, Durham and Lancashire County Cricket Club, Lancashire. In his three first-class matches, he scored 105 runs at an batting average (cricket), average of 21.00, with a high score of 41. In cricket, a player's bowling average is the number of runs they have conceded per wicket taken. The lower the bowling average is, the better the bowler is performing. It is one of a number of statistics used to compare bowlers, commonly used alongside the economy rate and the strike rate to judge the overall performance of a bowler. In cricket, a player's batting average is the total number of runs they have scored divided by the number of times they have been out, usually given to two decimal places.
