Sea Haggs
The Sea Haggs were an indie rock band formed in Melbourne, Australia in 1991 by Perth expatriates Laura MacFarlane on guitar, viola, percussion and vocals with Iain McIntyre on guitar, bass and vocals, and Cameron Potts on drums. The band also featured other members, including Yvette Pusser (bass) Nicole (drums) and Ben Butler (percussion). Towards the end of its career, the band also recorded under the name Keckle. In 1995, the band was wound up when MacFarlane moved to Seattle to join Sleater-Kinney. A compilation of Sea Haggs and Keckle recordings, along with some of MacFarlane's solo work, appeared then under the name "Jelly CD", released by McIntyre's Woozy zine/imprint. MacFarlane, Potts and McIntyre later went on to form ninetynine. Laura MacFarlane
Laura Sandra MacFarlane (also credited as Lora MacFarlane) is a multi-instrumentalist, singer, songwriter and audio engineer. Since 1996 she is the founding mainstay of the Australian indie rock band, ninetynine. MacFarlane also performs solo and has been in other bands, including as an early drummer and singer with United States rock group, Sleater-Kinney (1994–96). Cameron Potts (born 10 November 1971 in Subiaco, Western Australia), is a musician based in Melbourne. Since 1999, he has toured regularly to the United States, Canada, Europe, Mexico, Japan, Taiwan, China, Malaysia, Scandinavia and Iceland with both Ninetynine, playing drums, and Baseball (band), Baseball, playing violin. His band Cuba Is Japan toured the Far East in 2009. and a 5 date tour of China supporting Angie Hart. Iain McIntyre
Iain McIntyre is an Australian writer, musician and community radio broadcaster, currently based in Melbourne. From the 1980s onwards he has published books and zines, including the ''How To Make Trouble and Influence People'' series. 1980s In the late 1980s he became involved in environmental and left activism in Perth, Western Australia where he also co-edited his first publication Freakzine and presented a number of music shows for 6UVS/RTRfm. 1990s In 1992 McIntyre moved to Melbourne, Victoria where he continued his involvement in forest defence, squatting and other campaigns and also began co-editing the Melbourne-based fanzine ''Woozy'' with Laura MacFarlane. Indie Rock
Indie rock is a Music subgenre, subgenre of rock music that originated in the United States, United Kingdom and New Zealand from the 1970s to the 1980s. Ninetynine
Ninetynine (styled as ninetynine) is an indie band based in Melbourne, Australia. The band was founded by Laura MacFarlane, who played drums in Sleater-Kinney, in 1996 as a solo project. The first album, ''99'', was recorded with her playing all the instruments. Not long after she assembled a band with Cameron Potts, Rhonda Simmonds (who has since left the group) and Iain McIntyre (who played with Laura in several earlier bands). Other former members of the band include Michelle Mansford and Amy Clarke. Meg Butler joined in 2006.
