Scott Tipton
Scott Randall Tipton (born November 9, 1956) is an American politician who served as the U.S. representative for from 2011 to 2021. A Republican, he was previously a member of the Colorado House of Representatives from 2009 to 2011. Tipton was first elected to the House in November 2010 when he defeated three-term Democratic incumbent John Salazar, and he was re-elected four times. In 2020, he lost renomination to Republican primary challenger Lauren Boebert in what was considered a major upset. Early life and education Tipton was born in Española, New Mexico and raised in Cortez, Colorado. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from Fort Lewis College, the first in his family to graduate from college. Career After college, Tipton co-founded a pottery company called Mesa Verde Indian Pottery with his brother, based in Cortez, Colorado. The ''Grand Junction Daily Sentinel'' is the largest daily newspaper in western Colorado, with distribution in six counties. History I.N. Bunting of Pennsylvania and Howard T. Lee founded the newspaper in 1893. In 1911, future U.S. Senator Walter Walker bought the newspaper. When he died in 1956, his son, Preston Walker, inherited the ''Sentinel'', managing it until he died in 1970. He left it to newspaper employee Ken Johnson, who sold it the company to Cox Newspapers in 1979. The new publisher, James C. Montrose is a home rule municipality that is the county seat and the most populous municipality of Montrose County, Colorado, United States. Jessica's Law is the informal name given to a 2005 Florida law, as well as laws in several other states, designed to protect potential victims and reduce a sexual offender's ability to re-offend. A version of Jessica's Law, known as the Jessica Lunsford Act, was introduced at the federal level in 2005 but was never enacted into law by Congress. The name is also used by the media to designate all legislation and potential legislation in other states modeled after the Florida law. Frank McNulty (born February 2, 1973) is an attorney and former Speaker of the Colorado House of Representatives. McNulty was first elected in 2006 to represent Colorado House District 43.
