Scott Mercado
Scott Mercado (born c. 1964) was the original drummer of Sky Cries Mary and co-founder of the Seattle rock group Candlebox, a band reunited in 2006 with a "Best of" CD, live DVD (''Alive in Seattle'', 2007), and a latest CD called ''Into the Sun'', released January 2008. With over 5 million CDs sold, Candlebox continues to tour and record around the United States and the world. Mercado has also performed with Johnny Graham (Earth, Wind & Fire), Living Colour, and most recently, Brandi Carlile. Known for his unique blend of jazz drumming elements into rock and roll and use of the Open-handed drumming technique. Voted best Up and Coming drummer in Modern Drummer magazine. He currently resides in Seattle as a studio drummer and private drum instructor. Candlebox
Candlebox is an American rock band from Seattle, Washington. Since its formation in 1990, the group has released seven studio albums, several charting singles, a compilation, and a CD+DVD. Candlebox found immediate success with the release of its self-titled debut album in July 1993. ''Candlebox'' featured four singles: "Change", "You", " Far Behind" and "Cover Me". "Far Behind" reached the top 20, and the album was certified quadruple platinum by the RIAA. The band's next album, ''Lucy'' (1995), was certified gold, and was followed three years later by '' Happy Pills'' (1998). After troubles with its record company, Candlebox broke up in 2000. Into The Sun (Candlebox Album)
''Into the Sun'' is the fourth studio album by Seattle post-grunge band Candlebox. Released in 2008, it is their first album since 1998's '' Happy Pills'' and would mark both the band's studio return after a seven-year hiatus as well as their first album with Silent Majority Group. Recording and background In 2005, Kevin Martin wrote a song entitled "Stand." However, he felt the track didn't suit his current band, Hiwatts, and that it was "just too Candlebox." By the following year, Rhino Records, through Warner Bros., contacted Martin regarding an upcoming Candlebox best-of compilation. Martin and Klett favored the idea and decided the band should tour for its promotion, thus ending their indefinite hiatus. After a successful tour, bassist Bardi Martin left the band to continue his education, allowing Adam Kury to take his place. ''Love Stories & Other Musings'' is the fifth studio album by the alternative rock band Candlebox. It was released in 2012 on Audionest. Reception Stephen Thomas Erlewine of AllMusic thought the album to be Candlebox's best and richest album, and that this is due to a combination of "the melodicism of post-grunge and bear the lightness and nimble chops that come with middle age." The album debuted at No. 82 on the ''Billboard'' 200, and No. 25 on Top Rock Albums. with around 5,000 copies sold in its first week. The album has sold 21,000 copies as of April 2016. ''The Best of Candlebox'' is a greatest hits album by the Seattle rock band Candlebox, released on May 23, 2006. The album contains songs from the band's first three albums, as well as the song "Glowing Soul," from the soundtrack to ''The Waterboy''. Candlebox was contacted upon the decision by WEA to release a best-of compilation. This prompted their reuniting after a seven-year hiatus and a tour in support of the compilation. Sky Cries Mary
Sky Cries Mary is an American psychedelic rock/trance musical group from Seattle, Washington, formed in the late 1980s by Roderick Wolgamott. Early band influences included European industrial music bands such as Einstürzende Neubauten, Coil, and Test Department, and 1970s glam/punk artists including Lou Reed, Iggy Pop, and David Bowie. Notable band alumni include Jon Auer and Ken Stringfellow of The Posies, vocalist Anisa Romero, Michael Cozzi of Shriekback, Jon ‘Juano’ Davison (later of Yes and Glass Hammer), Ron Nine (Love Battery) on guitar, Kurt Danielson ( TAD on bass) and Gordon Raphael (producer for The Strokes). In 2018, guitarists Jack Endino and Kevin Whitworth, alongside bassist Curt Eckman and vocalist Debra Reese were invited to join the group. ''Lucy'' is the second studio album by Seattle rock band Candlebox. Although the album did not fare as well as its 1993 predecessor, the single "Simple Lessons" received considerable airplay, and ''Lucy'' eventually achieved gold certification. ''Candlebox'' is the debut album by Seattle rock band Candlebox. It contains their best known hit, " Far Behind", as well as the hit singles "Change", "You" and "Cover Me". Released in 1993, the album has since been certified 4× platinum in the United States. Promotion The music videos for "Change", "Far Behind" and "You" remained in longstanding rotation on MTV and the latter became two of the most requested videos of 1993, and the former being featured on ''Beavis and Butt-Head''.
