Candlebox
Candlebox is an American rock band from Seattle, Washington. Since its formation in 1990, the group has released seven studio albums, several charting singles, a compilation, and a CD+DVD. Candlebox found immediate success with the release of its self-titled debut album in July 1993. ''Candlebox'' featured four singles: "Change", " You", " Far Behind" and "Cover Me". "Far Behind" reached the top 20, and the album was certified quadruple platinum by the RIAA. The band's next album, '' Lucy'' (1995), was certified gold, and was followed three years later by '' Happy Pills'' (1998). After troubles with its record company, Candlebox broke up in 2000. ''Candlebox'' is the debut album by Seattle rock band Candlebox. It contains their best known hit, " Far Behind", as well as the hit singles "Change", " You" and "Cover Me". Released in 1993, the album has since been certified 4× platinum in the United States. Promotion The music videos for "Change", "Far Behind" and "You" remained in longstanding rotation on MTV and the latter became two of the most requested videos of 1993, and the former being featured on '' Beavis and Butt-Head''. Other songs were recorded during the ''Candlebox'' sessions and included on other releases. "Can't Give In," for instance, appears on the ''Airheads'' film soundtrack. Kevin Martin (American Musician)
Kevin Martin (born April 9, 1969) is an American singer who is best known as lead vocalist of the rock band Candlebox. He also provides lead vocals for the bands The Gracious Few and The Hiwatts. Career Martin was born in Elgin, Illinois. His father worked for a salt company and the family moved to San Antonio, Texas when he was 10. They subsequently moved to Mercer Island, Washington near Seattle when Martin was 15. He and drummer Scott Mercado set out to start a band in 1990. Candlebox was formed in 1991 after guitarist Peter Klett and bassist Bardi Martin joined them. They gained a ''Billboard'' 200 top 10 hit in 1993 with their self-titled debut album, released by Maverick Records. The album's success was largely due to the single " Far Behind", a song written about two of Martin's friends who suffered heroin overdoses, including Andrew Wood of Malfunkshun and Mother Love Bone. David Karl Krusen (born March 10, 1966) is an American musician who is best known for being the first drummer for the American rock band Pearl Jam, and for his work on the band's debut album, ''Ten''. Krusen was also a member of the bands Hovercraft and Unified Theory, and was previously the drummer for Candlebox from 1997–1999 and 2015–2017. Post-grunge
Post-grunge is a derivative of grunge that has a less abrasive or intense tone than traditional grunge. Originally, the term was used almost pejoratively to label mid-1990s rock bands such as Bush, Candlebox and Collective Soul that emulated the original sound of grunge. In the late 1990s, post-grunge morphed into a more clearly defined style that married the sound and aesthetic of grunge with a less intense and abrasive tone, rising to prominence that lasted in the 2000s. "You" is a song by American rock band Candlebox and the second single from their eponymous debut album. It is one of the band's most well known songs, peaking at #78 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100. It also reached #6 on the ''Billboard'' Album Rock Tracks charts, respectively. "You" was included on ''The Best of Candlebox'' in 2006. It was also featured in the 1996 film ''Foxfire'' and appears on its soundtrack album. Scott Mercado
Scott Mercado (born c. 1964) was the original drummer of Sky Cries Mary and co-founder of the Seattle rock group Candlebox, a band reunited in 2006 with a "Best of" CD, live DVD (''Alive in Seattle'', 2007), and a latest CD called ''Into the Sun'', released January 2008. With over 5 million CDs sold, Candlebox continues to tour and record around the United States and the world. Mercado has also performed with Johnny Graham (Earth, Wind & Fire), Living Colour, and most recently, Brandi Carlile. Known for his unique blend of jazz drumming elements into rock and roll and use of the Open-handed drumming technique. Voted best Up and Coming drummer in Modern Drummer magazine. Grunge
Grunge (sometimes referred to as the Seattle sound) is an alternative rock genre and subculture that emerged during the in the American Pacific Northwest state of Washington, particularly in Seattle and nearby towns. Grunge fuses elements of punk rock and heavy metal, but without punk's structure and speed. The genre featured the distorted electric guitar sound used in both genres, although some bands performed with more emphasis on one or the other. The Gracious Few (also known as TGF) were an American rock group from York, Pennsylvania. The band featured guitarist Chad Taylor, bassist Patrick Dahlheimer and drummer Chad Gracey from the band Live, along with lead vocalist Kevin Martin and guitarist Sean Hennesy from the band Candlebox. __TOC__ History Formation With Live on what they initially termed a "two-year hiatus", Taylor, Gracey and Dahlheimer were on a lookout for a vocalist for the new songs they had written. James Shannon Larkin (born April 24, 1967) is an American musician, best known as the drummer of rock band Godsmack. He replaced the previous drummer Tommy Stewart in June 2002. Prior to Godsmack, he was a member of Amen, Candlebox, Ugly Kid Joe, and Souls at Zero (formerly Wrathchild America).
