Scott Elsworth
Scott Elsworth is an Australian Paralympian who competed in boccia at the 1996 Summer Paralympics and the 2000 Summer Paralympics. He is from New South Wales. At the 1996 Games, his team finished fifth. He is a thrower in boccia. He was coached at the 2000 Games by Joan Stevens. In the period between 1996 and 2000, Elswoth's preparation was hampered because Australia did not compete at many international events. Boccia
Boccia ( ) is a precision ball sport, similar to bocce, and related to bowls and pétanque. The name "boccia" is derived from the Latin word for "boss" – '. The sport is contested at local, national and international levels, by athletes with severe physical disabilities. It was originally designed to be played by people with cerebral palsy but now includes athletes with other severe disabilities affecting motor skills. In 1984, it became a Paralympic sport and as of 2020, 75 boccia national organizations have joined one or more of the international organizations. Boccia is governed by the Boccia International Sports Federation (BISFed) and is one of only two Paralympic sports (along with goalball) that have no counterpart in the Olympic program. The 2000 Summer Paralympic Games or the XI Summer Paralympics were held in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, between 18 and 29 October.
