Paying The Price Of Love
"Paying the Price of Love" is the first single from the Bee Gees' 20th studio album, '' Size Isn't Everything'' (1993). The song reached the top 10 in Belgium and Portugal and the top 40 in Austria, Germany, the Netherlands, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom. In the United States, it charted on the '' Billboard'' Hot 100, reaching number 74, and peaked within the top 30 on the ''Billboard'' Adult Contemporary chart. The promotional video for the song shows the brothers performing the song as holograms on a futuristic version of MTV. Critical reception Alan Jones from ''Music Week'' gave the song three out of five. He wrote, "Potently re-emerging at what seems like more regular intervals than Haley's '' ic' Comet, the Bee Gees should be launched into another chart orbit by this, their first single for Polydor since the early Seventies. The brothers' sense of strong melodic material is still intact, as is Barry's falsetto. Keith Cohen's sparse house/jack remix should put this ...

Size Isn't Everything
''Size Isn't Everything'' is the twentieth studio album by the Bee Gees, released in the UK on 13 September 1993, and the US on 2 November of the same year. The brothers abandoned the contemporary dance feel of the previous album '' High Civilization'' and went for what they would describe as "A return to our sound before '' Saturday Night Fever''". Recording The album marked the Bee Gees's return to Polydor Records after their three-album contract with Warner Bros. Records. The album was recorded following a time of considerable strain for the Gibb brothers. Maurice had only recently managed to overcome his long-term struggle with alcoholism and Barry Gibb's wife and prematurely newborn daughter both suffered ill health. Barry himself was also scheduled to have back surgery. Subsequently, on 6 March 1992, the brothers' father, Hugh Gibb, died, the day after the birthday of their late brother Andy, who had died in 1988. The album was dedicated to Hugh. Work on the album began i ...

High Civilization
''High Civilization'' is the nineteenth studio album by British pop group the Bee Gees, released on 25 March 1991 in the U.K., and 14 May 1991 in the U.S. It was their last album recorded for Warner Bros. Records, after a four-year contract (they would return to WB through subsidiary Reprise Records in 2006: after gaining the rights to their previously released material, they reissued each album through Reprise). Possibly in reaction to firm resistance from U.S. radio to the previous two albums, '' E.S.P.'' (1987) and '' One'' (1989), which had done well in other countries, the U.S.-based Warner Bros gave this one less promotion and did not issue remixes. They recorded this album and their next album ''Size Isn't Everything'' with engineer Femi Jiya. In the U.S., the album was available only on the CD and cassette, but the LP version was released in limited quantities in some countries. While it did not chart in the U.S., it reached No. 6 in Switzerland, No. 2 in Germany (rea ...

When He's Gone
"When He's Gone" is the first and only American single from the 1991 Bee Gees album '' High Civilization''. Warner Bros. did nothing to promote the album or the single and neither charted in America, the first and only time a Bee Gees album failed to chart in America (It briefly appeared on the Cashbox singles chart rising to #86). The Bee Gees made two TV appearances in May, 1991 to promote the single. They appeared on Rick Dees' show ''Into the Night'' where they sang "When He's Gone" and " One" and on ''The Arsenio Hall Show'' they sang "When He's Gone" and " To Love Somebody". Two different B-sides were issued. In the United States, the song "True Confessions" was used, which was a song that was not included on the cassette versions of '' High Civilization''. The B-sides in the UK were live performances of "Massachusetts" and " You Win Again" done in Melbourne, Australia from their 1989 '' One For All Tour''. Track listing 7-inch and CD single (Europe) #"When He's Gone" ...

The Only Love
"The Only Love" is a ballad performed by the Bee Gees, It was written and produced by Barry Gibb, Robin Gibb and Maurice Gibb, lead vocals by Barry Gibb. Released on their 1991 album ''High Civilization''. Recording "The Only Love" was originally offered by Barry to Kelli Wolfe, but he then replaced it with a song he wrote specifically for her, "Born to Be Loved by You". This track sounds like an extended Barry verse welded to the type of big singalong chorus that Robin and Maurice always favored, Its lyrics are well put and under the circumstances he seems entitled to the over-the-top repeats at the song's finish. This song was originally offered to Bryan Adams, though he declined their offer. Release It was released as a single only in Europe, the B-side was a previously unreleased live version of " You Win Again", recorded in Melbourne, Australia during their 1989 "One For All World Tour". The song did not chart in the UK and America, but it reached #31 in Germany. The slee ...
