Scott Ayers
Scott Ayers is an American musician, best known as the guitarist and keyboardist for the noise rock band Pain Teens based in Houston, Texas. He has also released solo albums under the moniker Walking Timebombs and is involved with bands local to Texas, including Anarchitex, Exterminating Angels and Geltab. History Scott Ayers began playing guitar at the age of thirteen. He was initially inspired after hearing ''Are You Experienced'' by The Jimi Hendrix Experience and later became interested in the compositions and musicianship of Robert Fripp and Brian Eno. As an adult, he studied anthropology at the University of Houston. After Pain Teens disbanded in 1995, Ayers began issuing music under the name Walking Timebombs. In 1997 he released '' Walking Timebombs'', which captured a live performance of Ayers accompanied by former Pain Teens' drummer Frank Garymartin. Noise Rock
Noise rock (sometimes called noise punk) is a noise music, noise-oriented style of experimental rock that spun off from punk rock in the 1980s. Drawing on movements such as minimal music, minimalism, industrial music, and New York hardcore, artists indulge in extreme levels of distortion through the use of electric guitars and, less frequently, electronic instrumentation, either to provide percussive sounds or to contribute to the overall arrangement. Some groups are tied to song structures, such as Sonic Youth. Although they are not representative of the entire genre, they helped popularize noise rock among alternative rock audiences by incorporating melodies into their droning textures of sound, which set a template that numerous other groups followed. Relapse Records is an American independent record label based in Upper Darby, Pennsylvania. It was founded by Matthew F. Jacobson in 1990. The label features many grindcore, death metal, metalcore and sludge metal artists. History The label was started by Matthew F. Jacobson in August, 1990 in his parents' basement in Aurora, Colorado. The first two releases on the label were 7-inch singles by the bands Velcro Overdose and Face of Decline, closely followed by three death metal bands that would become among the biggest on the label, Deceased, Suffocation, and Incantation. After this, Jacobson became acquainted with William Yurkiewicz Jr., who became his partner in the record label.
