Adolph Schönfelder
Heinrich Ferdinand Adolph Schönfelder (1875–1966) was a German politician, ''Alterspräsident'' (President by right of age, Father of the House) of the Federal German parliamentary council in 1948–49, mayor of Hamburg, and member of the Hamburg Parliament. Schönfelder was member of the Social Democratic Party. From 1921 to 1925, Schönfelder was the president of the Central Union of Carpenters and Kindred Trades of Germany. On 1 September 1948 in his position of ''Alterspräsident'', Schönfelder presided over the first meeting of the Parliamentary Council that drafted the Basic Law for the Federal Republic of Germany. As presiding officer of the constitutive meeting of the parliamentary council, he chaired the election of the council's President and two Vice-Presidents. Floy LaVonne Currey Schoenfelder (July 28, 1919 – December 6, 2000) was an American disability rights advocate. She co-founded and directed the Polio Survivors Foundation, based in Reseda, California. Early life and education Floy L. Currey was born in Ida Grove, Iowa, the daughter of Charles P. Currey and Mary Louisa "Lula" McLeod Currey (later Finch). Her parents were both teachers. She was a dancer and singer in her youth, and graduated from Rapid City High School in South Dakota. Polio and post-polio career Schoenfelder was a young wife and mother working as a beautician in Rapid City, South Dakota, when she contracted polio in 1946. She required an iron lung for respiratory support in her first months of the illness, and her family moved to Los Angeles in 1947 so she could be treated at Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center. Helmut Schönfelder (30 April 1914 – 23 September 2003) was a Luftwaffe ace and recipient of the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross during World War II. Gerd Schönfelder (born 2 September 1970 in Kulmain) is a German para-alpine skier, one of the most decorated in the sport's history. Biography Schönfelder is a multiple Paralympic Champion who won his first three gold medals at the 1992 Winter Paralympics. He has won an overall of sixteen gold medals at the Winter Paralympics, including four gold medals at the Salt Lake 2002 Games as well as four gold medals at the Vancouver 2010 Games and has won 22 Paralympic medals in his career. Karl-Heinz Schönfelder (26 April 1923 – 29 December 2018) was a German historian of modern literature and the founder of American studies at the University of Leipzig. Biography During World War II Schönfelder had been a prisoner of war in American captivity. Since 1948, he had a teaching practice for dealing in American English at ''Karl Marx University'' in Leipzig. In 1950 he earned his Ph.D degree with a dissertation on Sinclair Lewis as a social and cultural critic. From 1953 he also gave lectures about the history of the United States. 1954 he earned his habilitation about international problems regarding the mixing of peoples and languages including the aspects of German words feud heritage in American English. Olivier Schoenfelder (born 30 November 1977) is a French retired ice dancer and coach. With partner Isabelle Delobel, he is the 2008 World champion, the 2007 European and the 2008 Grand Prix Final champion. Career Schoenfelder began skating after seeing Isabelle and Paul Duchesnay at an ice show and switched to ice dancing after only six months in singles. Delobel and Schoenfelder were paired together in 1990 by coach Lydie Bontemps on the suggestion of Irina Moiseeva and Andrei Minenkov. Rainer Schönfelder (born 13 June 1977) is an Austrian former skier who won the 2003–2004 men's World Cup slalom title. Career Born in Bleiburg, Carinthia, Austria, Schönfelder made his debut in the 1995–1996 season, finishing 115th in the overall rankings. He quickly began to excel in the slalom events, and improved his position in the overall World Cup standing to 10th place by the 2003–2004 season. Apart from his slalom success in the 2003–2004 World Cup, his other achievements include 2 bronze medals (combined and slalom) at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Torino, Italy and a 4th place in the combined event at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City.
