The ''Schwäbische Post'' is a local daily newspaper for Ostalbkreis. It is published by the media conglomerate SDZ Druck und Medien GmbH & Co. KG in Aalen. It uses the outer jacket ('' Mantel'') composed by the editorial department of Südwest Presse in Ulm. SDZ Druck und Medien has 312 employees, including graphic designers, salesmen for both digital and print, IT systems support specialists, economists, editorial volunteers and 30 editors. History On 29 January 1837, two Schwäbisch Gmünd booksellers, Johannes Raach and Philip Jakob Andreas Buck, founded Aalen's first newspaper, the ''Bote von Aalen''. In 1853, Ludwig Gottlob Stierlin was awarded the publication rights for the ''Bote von Aalen:Amts- und Intelligenz-Blatts Oberamtsbezirk Aalen'', renamed to ''Kocherzeitung'' in 1873. Ostalbkreis
The Ostalbkreis is a ''Landkreis'' (district) in the east of Baden-Württemberg, Germany, on the border to Bavaria. Neighboring districts are (from the north clockwise) Schwäbisch Hall, Ansbach, Donau-Ries, Heidenheim, Göppingen and Rems-Murr. History The district was created in 1973, when the District of Aalen merged with most of the former District of Schwäbisch Gmünd. Geography The district is located in the eastern part of the Swabian Alb (''Schwäbische Alb''), hence its name which translates to ''Eastern Alb District''. Main rivers in the district are the Rems, the Jagst and the Kocher, all affluents of the Neckar. Ostwürttemberg (''East Württemberg'') is a region in eastern Baden-Württemberg, Germany, in the Stuttgart subdivision (Regierungsbezirk). It is located in the southwestern part of Germany. Neresheim
Neresheim is a town in the Ostalbkreis district, in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. It is situated northeast of Heidenheim, and southeast of Aalen. It's the home of the Neresheim Abbey, which still hosts monks, was '' Reichsfrei'' until the German Mediatisation and was built by Balthasar Neumann. Bopfingen
Bopfingen ( Swabian: ''Bopfeng'') is a small city in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. It is situated in the Ostalbkreis, between Aalen and Nördlingen. It consists of the city Bopfingen itself and its suburbs Aufhausen, Baldern, Flochberg, Kerkingen, Oberdorf, Schloßberg, Trochtelfingen, and Unterriffingen. Bopfingen is famous for its landmark Ipf, a table mountain which is part of the neighboring Schwäbische Alb to the east. To the west it borders to Bavaria and the meteor crater Nördlinger Ries. Ellwangen an der Jagst, officially Ellwangen (Jagst), in common use simply Ellwangen () is a town in the district of Ostalbkreis in the east of Baden-Württemberg in Germany. It is situated about north of Aalen. Ellwangen has 25,000 inhabitants. Geography Ellwangen is situated in the valley of the river Jagst, between the foothills of the Swabian Alb and Virngrund (ancient Virgundia) forest, the latter being part of the Swabian-Franconian Forest. The Jagst runs through Ellwangen from south to north. History The town developed in the 7th century as an Alemannic settlement in the Virgunna forest next to the Franconian-Swabian border.
