Chris Schlachter
Christopher Peter Schlachter (July 17, 1894 – date and year of death unclear) was an American football player. Schlachter was born in Brooklyn in 1894. He attended Bushwick High School. He next attended Syracuse University, where he played at the guard position for the Syracuse Orange football team from 1915 to 1916. He was selected by Walter Camp as a first-team guard on this 1915 College Football All-America Team. In October 1916, he sustained a broken collar bone and missed the remainder of the 1916 season. Another report indicated that Schlachter quit the team in October 1916. In June 1917, he applied to serve in ambulance unit, but he was rejected because of his German name. He was later certified to serve in the Army but was left behind when his unit was deployed to Europe, due to his parent having been born in Germany. Dirk Schlächter (born 15 February 1965, in Bad Nauheim, Germany) is the bassist of the power metal band Gamma Ray and Avalanch from 2018. History Dirk got in touch with music for the first time joining a music school at the age of 8. At the age of 11 he got his first acoustic guitar followed by an electric guitar at the age of 15. At the age of 19 he turned to bass guitar. During this time he played in bands called Blue Life, Sold Out, Louis Glover House Band and Drivin' Force. Dirk appeared as a guest musician on Gamma Ray's first album, Heading For Tomorrow, playing bass on the track "Money" and parts of the track "The Silence". The rest of the bass-parts on the album were recorded by Uwe Wessel. Franz Eugen Schlachter (28 July 1859 – 12 January 1911) was a revivalist preacher, classical scholar and the translator of the German language Schlachter Bible. He was the son of Joseph Franz Schlachter, a business man from Mühlhausen/Alsace in France. At the time of his confirmation he visited the assembly (congregation) of Robert Persall Smith, the leader of the Holiness Movement, in Basel. At the same time he experienced conversion to Jesus Christ. As his parents lacked money he left school to begin vocational training for a merchant. He continued to study Ancient Greek and Hebrew during this time. From 1878 to 1882 he studied at a seminary in Basel.
