Andreas Scheu
Andreas Scheu (27 January 1844 – 29 August 1927) was an Austrian people, Austrian socialist activist. Born in Vienna, Scheu completed an apprenticeship as a gilder and furniture maker. He worked in Vienna as a journeyman, then in 1861 moved to Prague for a year. On returning to Vienna, he found work with the leading furniture maker, Benedikt Kölbl. Scheu had become interested in pacifism, and when he was called up for military service in 1864, he planned to become a conscientious objector. However, he was rejected for service on the grounds of poor eyesight. In 1867, Scheu represented Kölbl's firm at the Exposition Universelle (1867), Exposition Universelle in Paris, and while there he met Thérèse Arocker, the two marrying in May. Despite Arocker's opposition, on returning to Austria, Scheu became increasingly involved in the workers' movement, joining the Workers' Educational Association, organising a workers' exhibition in the city in 1868, co-founding the ''Volks ... Georg Scheu (21 June 1879 in Krefeld, Rhine Province, Germany – 2 November 1949, in Alzey, Rhineland-Palatinate), was a German botanist, plant physiologist, oenologist and grape breeder. Biography Georg Scheu completed horticultural training in Hanover and worked as a horticultural technician in Munich and Schierstein. Around 1900, he went to the Geisenheim Grape Breeding Institute in the Rheingau and then completed his training at the Kaiser Wilhelm Institute in Bydgoszcz (German: ''Bromberg''). It was during this time that Georg Scheu developed his love of the vine and viticulture, which led him to Alzey in 1909 as a district orchard technician. There he was appointed by the committee of the Chamber of Agriculture for the province of Rheinhessen as the first head of the newly founded vine nursery. Elizabeth Scheu
Elizabeth "Lisl" Close, (née Scheu; 4 June 1912, in Vienna – 29 November 2011, in Minneapolis) was an influential female architect practicing in Minnesota. During her long partnership with her husband, Winston "Win" Close (1906-1997), she designed many notable public buildings and private homes while managing the family firm for extended periods. Solomon Scheu
Solomon Scheu (January 6, 1822 – November 23, 1888) was an American businessman and politician from New York. Life He came to the United States in 1839 to live with an uncle and a brother in New York City, and learned the baker's trade. In 1844, he removed to Buffalo, New York, where his brother Jacob lived. They opened a bakery, later a grocery business, and then a malt factory. In 1847, he married Wilhelmina Rink, and they had seven sons and a daughter. He entered politics as a Democrat, and was alderman from the Sixth Ward in 1854 and 1855. He was Receiver of Taxes from 1856 to 1859. He was an Alderman again in 1866 and 1867. He was an Inspector of State Prisons from 1868 to 1873, elected in 1867 and 1870.
