SceneAround
SceneAround is a theatrical performance system. It involves a rotating auditorium with the sets built around the auditorium. The auditorium is a so-called revolve on which the audience rotates from scene to scene. Origin The system was developed and used for the Dutch musical production Soldier of Orange, produced by Robin de Levita and Fred Boot. De Levita invented SceneAround as a solution to play a large scale production inside a former airplane hangar at former military airport Valkenburg between Wassenaar, Katwijk and Leiden. The auditorium is surrounded by projection panels that can open up in various width up to 180 degrees and frame each set. Auditorium The auditorium was designed by Dutchman Robert Nieuwenhuis. Within three months, a gigantic steel turntable with 1100 seats was created. The turning movement, speed and direction can be adjusted by computer. Soldier Of Orange (musical)
''Soldier of Orange'' (Dutch: ''Soldaat van Oranje'') is a Dutch musical production, based on the true story of resistance hero Erik Hazelhoff Roelfzema. In the 1970s, he wrote his experiences during World War II down in a book and director Paul Verhoeven made it into a 1977 film, starring actor Rutger Hauer. The musical premiered on 30 October 2010, in a theatre that was purpose-built for the production: the TheaterHangaar on the former Valkenburg air base in Katwijk (in an old hangar). Queen Beatrix attended the premiere together with Erik Hazelhoff Roelfzema's widow, Karin. ''Soldier of Orange'' is produced by NEW Productions, which is a subsidiary of investment company Amerborgh Nederland. Robin De Levita
Robin de Levita (born April 19, 1959) is a Dutch theatre- and television producer, who produced shows on Broadway and West End and won several Tony Awards. Career De Levita produced over a hundred television programs for Dutch media tycoon Joop van den Ende TV-Producties/ Endemol. After that, he started to work internationally. From 1993 - 2001 he lived and worked in New York City, first as managing director of Endemol Theater Productions. His first Broadway production was the musical ''Cyrano'', followed by ''Victor/Victoria'' with Julie Andrews. For five years, De Levita was a partner in Dodger Theatricals and produced ''Hamlet'' (with Ralph Fiennes), '' 42nd Street'', ''Urinetown'' and ''Into the Woods'' among seventeen Broadway shows. An auditorium is a room built to enable an audience to hear and watch performances. For movie theatres, the number of auditoria (or auditoriums) is expressed as the number of screens. Bernhard Hammer (3 March 1822, in Olten – 6 April 1907) was a Swiss politician. He was the peloton leader of the Olten cadet military group. In 1844, after studying sciences and law, Hammer settled in Solothurn as a lawyer and a notary, but he worked in Berlin, Zurich and Geneve too. Leiden (; in English and archaic Dutch also Leyden) is a city and municipality in the province of South Holland, Netherlands. Fred Boot (Groningen, 1965) is a Dutch theatre producer. Career Boot started working for Joop van den Ende Theaterproducties in 1991 and was responsible for the publicity and marketing of over twenty musical productions, such as The Phantom of the Opera, Miss Saigon, Cyrano - The Musical, West Side Story, fifteen stage play's (amongst others Duet, The Sunshine Boys, Torch Song Trilogy) and several revues, cabaret shows and foreign productions.
